i'm also looking for accommodation, but from march till end june/mid july

preferably fully furnished

don't mind paying up to A$180 if walking distance to south bank / city

Pricing is pretty standard in the big chain supermarkets. Markets I am not sure. A box of a dozen eggs is pretty much the same everywhere.

However Seafood varies - more expensive in Canberra because good ole Canberra is landlocked!

IIRC, u get a 5% student discount @ Yuens @ Valley. Poultry wise, get from Burlington Butcher. Cheaper and fresher than Coles.

there is a good cafe called 3 Monkeys at the west end...west end got alot of very bohemian style cafe, i went to this other cafe with saintsu to play chess...cant remember the name of it but it has a very nice ambience...

i know someone doing optometry at qut, also a fellow hwzoner

anyway, he's smart. but here, he's not liking it. during breaks, his classmates are also studying, reading their notes. and they hardly 'socialize' with the asians. all these little things add up together and you won't find studying here pleasant. he scored 60% for a test and it's consider 'good' by sg standards, but his classmates are scoring 80% on average and they hardly put in much effot

3 monkeys? Lousy lar. 1 thing I learnt abt such places, screw the ambience. Kopi more impt.

So far for now, there's only 2 place for kopi for me. 3 beans @ Broadbeach and Aromas @ Hilton.

A crazy idea for u all, since some are here and some will arrive in feb, how abt a CNY dinner someday?

woolowin...saintsu and i and frens used to go there whenever there is some special occasion to celebrate...it serves very authentic chinese food
