its a darn rush manz.. they only told me I gotten a place this monday!!! :s27:
muz make payment, make visa, was told the accommodation also alr booked.. not to mentioned air tickets..

for visa is the health checkup a must? or subjective?

accommodation wise wheres a good place to study, near UQ or? hostel or privately rent? any1 can help scoutout? or recommend???

when will be a good time to fly over? like how many days in advanced?

running on a tight time limit here and CNY compounds the urgency.. sigh.. HELP!!

Yes, health check is a must for your visa to be approved.

Air tickets are still avaliable, but may require transfers (maybe no direct flight). 11 Feb still got.

You are right, CNY will make air tickets harder to get.

UQ always leaves it pretty late for application notification. your health check up is mandatory, should be able to complete in one day.

It'll be good to fly over for orientation if you can get the air tickets.

Accomo wise, by now hostels are fully booked. You're better off settling short term accomo before looking for something more permanent.

you really gotta rush if you are gonna make it by the 25th of feb when school reopens. lots of things to buy and prepare before you leave as well. Your problem is compounded by the need to attend orientation. Better move it! :)

I'm still unable to find a place, think I'm putting up here http://www.iplylodge.com.au/ for the time being..for a week perhaps then use the time to look around.

I've stayed in that exact lodge last year. Antoine, the owner is a really nice person. The location is pretty accessible to the shopping mall and bus stop to uni. If you're looking for accommodation near St. Lucia, it's going to cost you around 140 and above a week i think. Good luck!

Ah, with a backing testimonial I might just take it. Did you stay for 1 sem or just a few nights?

I stayed there for around ten days. It's not really a posh living environment, but it's comfortable and clean to my expectations. Breakfast is provided with cereals milk toast bread. Broadband Internet is also available iirc. It's decent enough to stay for 1-2 weeks, not for the whole semester. It's also not very noisy and rowdy unlike some inns that I've stayed in. Almost all of the occupants are students staying there temporarily, good chance to mix around with ppl of different nationalities during meal times, if that interests you.

i'm thinking of applying for UQ scholarship. i know that UQ needs to offer me a place first before i can apply for the scholarship. so lets say that UQ has accepted me, then what's next? do i just apply for the scholarship? or i need to accept their offer first and then apply for it? does anyone know??
