I'm more thinking along the lines of leaving them alone (or rather, they prefer not to be annoyed by their "butlers/servants"), which matches the scenario of most working adults living on their own.

depends, some cat dont like to stay indoor or alone. Getting sick while less frequent, will still happen a few times in their 16-18yr life time.

try thinking in this way, if you have love your dog and take good care, nothing to be sad. life isnt easy for living things on earth, suffering in old age will be worse, nobody escape even have money. I only seek they dont suffer too much and too long in final stage even i will miss them when they passed on.

yes, it is sad. but if adopt from shelter, i feel good to able to provide love and comfort in their remaining life.

Adopted a 10 year doggy from shelter. 5 years on, she is stronger and muscular than before..

Just that she came with dry eyes. And I have to apply eye drops twice everyday. Luckily, the condition did not worsen.

there's 2 community cat living on the void deck, i play with them when i see them, there's an auntie feeding them daily, so they are very picky eaters indeed

or watch videos of people keeping cats and dogs together at home to soothe the nerve

u dont have to keep a cow to drink milk u know ... lol

I always wanted to keep one but I think of it pee and da bian I sian. Even for myself I don't do much of such activities.

already say wont be home for long hours. Dog later depression or you will feel bad for it.

Your freedom will be bound by it, no more long holidays unless you put in boarding school or have people that can help.

Have to walk to let it pee and poo if it doesnt do at home. Lastly, when it up lorry you will get affected.

if u suddenly rush out of door .... it might think it's emergency and u forgot it .... then it bark until u come home
every long day u come back have to clear the toilet floor

amount of extra duties is not worth the emotional benefit of 1 extra "toddler" in family


last time my dog like to sleep directly behind the main door as it's way of waiting .... it is oblivious to the logic that other family members also at home

feel like keeping one, but worry the dog might feel depressed at home when im away at work for long hours.

Long hr away better not.

Dog needs time, attention, exercise, and companionship not just food and a roof.

Return home after a long day, tired liao, difficult to give dog the time & care it deserves.

For ursake & the dog, better not.

Ya, it is really an extra 'toddler'.

I fence off the area behind the main door cos my dog loves to sit there wait for me.
But it is also the filthiest place (open door and step there with outside shoes).
Now got this virus, that virus. And they here step step, there step step, then put the paws into the mouth! Confirm will fall sick. and the best part - they don't know how to say when sick.

indeed. dogs are for people whom are not working much or not work at all. best is get someone(eg. maid, family members) to take care while owner is away or working.

if living alone, best not to have a dog.

if you love dogs, i suggest you volunteer in animal shelter. the shelters really need manpower to walk & care for the dogs there.
