I think it depends on what stage of life both ts and the dog are in. If ts is occupied with work most of the time, and then after work social activities plus weekend own activities. The dog would be pretty lonely.

There are lot of responsibility and commitment associated with owning the dog and probably ts will only learn them along the way if he decides to keep one.

Keeping one isn't all abt fun, it comes with other traits like maintenance, grooming, medical, discipline, house cleaning, daily walks. At times you hv to be thick skin to face discrimination in public from those who are adverse to dogs, etc.

can a person reasonably take care of a dog alone?

feel like keeping one, but worry the dog might feel depressed at home when im away at work for long hours.
better don't.. dun say dog.. even cat will feel lonely and behave very needy. Dogs - worse.

yes, it is sad. but if adopt from shelter, i feel good to able to provide love and comfort in their remaining life.
My colleague adopts elderly and sick dogs. Gives them good home until the end. Unfortunately not always a natural one for the sick ones.

opt for a pet turtle instead
less mess & maintenance :o
Turtles are frigging messy and smelly if you don’t have a powerful, well maintained filter system to handle all that pee and poop. l

They’ll also outlive your children if well cared for.

Not much difference if they are already attached to the owner. They will stop playing with each other once the owner is no longer at home and be in emo mode until the owner returns.

Best to let them watch tv if possible

I am perfectly fine on euthanize a very sick and suffering life. I see when no quality or purpose of life, only living for pure suffering with no chance of improvement. I will do the same for my dogs and my life. Natural ending isn't always the best option.

smaller dogs are ok for shelter. bigger dogs with high daily exercise needs I think will surely be an issue because the dog hotels people will not have the time and energy to exercise them enough.

if working and no one at home, better not to have a doggie.

it's true that having a dog will restrict your travel plans. Plus your dog will need regular exercise, home cooked food if you want them to live long and healthy lives. You think after work, still got energy left to do all these?

Please do not get a dog unless you are willing to spend time with it, walking it at least 2 times a day and send it for obedience training.

My area got so many dogs barking like crazy everyday because the owners likely leave them at home alone and do not send them for obedience training, they also may not have brought them down for walks. They need 2 to 3 times walk a day to pang sai and pang jio.

If they don't, they will go crazy at home.

hi, is there any chance i can contact your friend. I have a labradror retriever and he is 13 years old. I want to send him back to my home but we have concluded that its better for him to stay in singapore for the remaining days. Would appreciate if he could fine a kind person to take care of him.
