IPhone X sucks feels like a downgrade coming from a 7 plus smaller screen usage area and weird aspect ratio for videos/YouTube and most importantly the 1.8k price tag for a 256gb phone rather get the new MacBook Pros

Just tried in my pitch dark room. Can’t even see my own hand in front of my face but Face ID can unlock.
Of course the cam used what little of the screen light to unlock but still impressed.

I have a MacBook pro with touch id but think the Iphone X is more worth.

Hardly need to touch my MacBook pro whereas the Iphone is always in use

I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with the light from your screen, there is a infrared light to capture your face and not the screen light.

Apparently they use infra red technology, project 30,000 dots on your face and try to map out an infra red 3D image for subsequent recognition
Hence not dependent on light source.

Sent from Samsung SM-N950F using GAGT

It's not the light. It's the works of the flood illuminator and the infrared camera that make it works in the dark. Very awesome

Anybody know understand why need to make the screen taller ? Can’t use 16.9 ratio and full screen?

Most content is crop especially movies!

Face id can’t work properly when lying down other then that perfect phone. Only the screen ratio thing headache

not as bad as S8.... very obvious looking smaller than plus even though 5.8 inch

hope apple will have X with the same screen ratio as the plus in 2018

i think this turn round pple will expecting more since the price of a phone is matching a laptop...

Apple might have hit the limit in a handheld mobile phone device in terms of pricing.

I agree with you we are paying premium for a handphone... but why are Apple products so hot? I believe because people really appreciate the well-designed polished product, durability, and great software and hardware integration.

Yes software wise Android OS is also "free", but I hate it that Google is selling out my privacy out to the Ads - how else can Google continue to keep Android FREE?

Just this morning - I tried out the Cubit and IKEA Apps on my iPhone X. Truely amazed at the ever expanding uses of a mobile platform. It added "Ruler" and "ID mockup" to the lists of uses for a phone:

Phone, SMS, Camera, Emails, Browser, IM, Social Media, Music player, Video Player, Home Automation, Weather, Clock, Calendar, Maps, Compass, Calculator, Translator, Newspaper, Magazine, Membership cards, Music tuner, metronome, Books, Activity tracker, Gaming platform....

All in the palm of your hand. Amazing. How much would you have to fork out 10 years ago for individual devices fulfilling those functions?

I like your statement. Its true. Now I cant be bothered if people ask why spend so much where you can get something else. ☺️

You forgot youtube

To those blaming google for selling your privacy, pls go to your ios device. Settings. Privacy. Advertising.

The most you can do is limit your ad tracking. You can’t even stop apple from mining your data.
