I think as long as you got the money, you can go over, provided your result are not that bad. You can try ask the course coordinator for more information. Althought I do not know what is the big deal with going over there to study, other than living apart from parents and learning independent, which is what I am doing now.

Can the second hand book buyers and sellers go create a new thread "RMIT second handbook" ? This thread is becoming more like a market and I don't see this happening in the other school thread.

Has everyone prepared for their test tomorrow ( Statistic ) ? I just revised the online paper and I got struck at this 2 qns

Penny Bauer, Chief Financial Officer of Harrison Haulage, suspects irregularities in the payroll system, and orders an inspection of a random sample of vouchers issued since 1 January 2003. A sample of ten vouchers is randomly selected, without replacement, from the population of 2000 vouchers. Each voucher in the sample is examined for errors; and x is the number of sample vouchers with errors. If 20% of the population of vouchers contain errors, the standard deviation of x is __________.

Lucy Lui purchased a mailing list of 2000 names and addresses for her mail order business, but after scanning the list she doubts the authenticity of the list. She randomly selects five names from the list for validation. If 40% of the names on the list are not authentic, and x is the number of non-authentic names in her sample, P(x<2) is ______________.

Heh anyone remember how to do this? I recall the lecturer talk about the second question, but I can't find the reference to it any where. Good luck to everyone taking the test!

I didn't know there's an online paper, thanks for sharing.

As to Q2, calculate P(X=0) + P(X=1). p = 0.4, q = 0.6, n=2000. Use binomial distribution formula.

Q1, it seems to do with binomial distribution as well. sigma square = npq. n=10, p=0.2, q=0.8. square root npq gives you the SD

Thanks for solving the second question, I was thinking if I need to use binomial , but since the answer was (none of the above), I cannot verify my answer lolz! The online paper is at the DLS site, under mid term practical test.

By the way, doesn't the 5 name from the sample has any use? Like insert into some formula, or they doesn't matter at all?
