If my understanding isn't wrong, the 5 doesn't have any use in this qn except to mislead us...hehehe. Because the probability of 40% refers to the 2000 mailing list. So no matter how many sample u choose from the 2000, probability is the same and n remains the same as well.Thanks for solving the second question, I was thinking if I need to use binomial , but since the answer was (none of the above), I cannot verify my answer lolz! The online paper is at the DLS site, under mid term practical test.
By the way, doesn't the 5 name from the sample has any use? Like insert into some formula, or they doesn't matter at all?
