Tbh, our data science team really isn't PhD material, mediocre programmers and they are already being paid $100K+. :s13: They are pretty good at talking though so my suggestion is whoever wants to get a career in it should at least know how to present and speak eloquently on top of data science skills.
yes, even basic statistics and programming already is very valuable in many jobs. These guys probably just do basic data analysis, not real machine learning or programming

That's why I said if you are world class at machine learning or programming, you will have 100k+ offers easily, up to millions annually

u r idiot. U think so easy to learn high level ml and data science and programming? It takes years.

If u can do all 3 at world class level u going to earn 200k a year easily maybe 0.5m to 3m also possible.

What is their background?

Personally I feel fresh grad without internship experience or mid career switch ppl without relevant experience will be very hard to find employment opportunities

But there r plenty in sg earning 200k n above :(

really? I already have eight publications with tier 2 AI conferences, involved in adapting deep reinforcement learning for real world application and I still can't get a data scientist job here in AUSTRALIA
