When choosing an air conditioner, consider these factors:
  1. Ease of Maintenance: Make sure it's easy to clean and service—check the manual.
  2. Market Dominance: Opt for a brand with widespread use, ensuring easy access to spare parts and that any technician can service it.
  3. Indoor Unit Size: If the unit is super compact, it might be difficult to service.
  4. Smart Features: More advanced features often mean complex proprietary circuit boards.
So, if a salesperson recommends LG or Midea, it often means those brands offer better commissions. This is the reality so need to wake up.

Also extended warranty are nonsenses, you need to read the fine prints. In the event, if air con is unserviceable means they need to replace and replace means you need to redo all the installation need to repaint the wall and trunkings. <<< Hidden Costs

Just get Mitsubishi or Daikin

Also if you are replacing your air con , remember to keep all the old remote control, you can sell at carousell for $10. All those old aircon blower $30 and PCB $15 can resell as spare parts.

$55 * 3 = $165 , Gong Kia Give Everything To The Installers.

My office is using Midea, just a residential model.
Left over by the previous tenant who used it for say 2 years.

I been in the office for 5 years plus.
2 of them, I operate 24/7 rain or shine.
If one day operation is considered 8 hours.

They have effectively been working for 17 years.

I rarely service, Infact , i only called the technician come service less than 2 times a year.
Only when it leaks then I call them.
I used to service my own air cons, but I'm not familiar with Midea so I pay for the service.

Last month after servicing, got weird noise.
The technician accidentally loosened the blower while cleaning which can't be removed easily.
Today they fixed it back, it is perfectly working again.

Midea has contract with a few air con companies to service their units.
Overall the service is not bad. They are quite decent.
SGD80 for 3 units.

Today i talked to this guy who fixed the problem for the weird noise.
He told me, all Midea new models can remove the blower with one screw, even easier than many models including Mitsubishi.
These Midea appointed A/C companies also service other A/C so they are experience enough to give a fair review.

The reason why most A/C technicians recommend Mitsubishi is because they have plenty of spares or they use refurbished spares from units that were discarded.
Since they touch Midea less and has less experience with them, it can be more challenging for them especially with no easy access to spare parts.
Also the blower can't be removed in the past.
If you are wondering how they clean the blower, without bringing down.
They use a brush and just brush everything out. It's messy but it works.

This is not a problem for Midea authorized technicians who have all the brand new spares available.
If the blower can indeed be removed easily, then it's not a bad choice.
In fact the Midea technician told me that as long got spares, no problem to repair at all, so it should be able to tank a lot more damage.

If the price is significantly lesser from Mitsubishi, i think Midea is not a bad choice.
But if it's only 10-20%, then I will probably stick with Mitsubishi Electric. Heard the newer models no longer have the mainboard easily fried issue. Do note that Mitsubishi do have a lot of major issues for units sold a few years ago.

In China, it's common for air con brands to offer six years onsite warranty.
They have both heat and cold function, more components to fail and they don't have the practice to perform servicing. So how bad can it be? :o

anyone using or know anyone that is using midea aircon?

feedback please thanks

Actually Midea in terms of product and brand should be decent. Imagine it is top seller in China which is such a big country and I don’t believe the Chinese are less demanding customers.

Problem in Singapore seems to be the warranty and support. The consignment sellers not a lot. And secondly also not sure how many technicians here know how to service Midea.

For simple cleaning should be similar between air-con brands, but for complex problems you need experts in the brand. Singapore is mostly Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric traditionally.

so if you are adventurous to choose Midea, I am assuming the price is attractive enough. And secondly seller provide some form of warranty, maintenance and spare parts support.

I think key is do your own research. Salesman will always sell the item give most commissions.
whether it is for air con or investment product or house, it’s the same. The spin they give will always be guiding you towards highest commission. Hence do the necessary homework. If you can secure the warranty and maintenance and parts support, I think can consider.

Hence i chose daikin. Daikin 3 years. Fujitsu 5 years but the price a few hundreds more. This service thingy is the whole reason why i chose certain brand.

Ah Tiong Brand.............Mai la.
perhaps time to change your perspective about Ah tiong products. Have asked few ah tiong restaurants using Midea aircon, all of them said problem free and very infrequent servicing.

of all the brands, Daikin is the number 1 rubbish, pure garbage! 3 users personal experience, 3k repair fee in 4-5 years, all due to PCB and whatever rubbish issues!

Daikin is just pure rubbish compared to the other popular Japanese brand. I won't buy Daikin again, everything started dying after warranty ended. Total repair cost from beginning of 3rd year onwards till 6th year exceeded $3k even though these units were serviced every 3 month.
