Been using Youtrip almost everywhere in Tokyo Osaka these past 2 days.
Oddly amount deducted .. but status of each transaction still shows "pending".

But at least all my purchases were never rejected once.
Did you also tried withdrawing cash?

Did you keep your youtrip wallet as SGD? Or convert your sgd to yen to swipe?

mainly in SGD. I only exchange when the rate is good. After all that’s the main benefit of using such multi-currency card. To exchange when currency rates are good.

I can’t buy Shinkansen or top up Passmo (IC) card using YouTrip. Do take note. Their system does not recognise it.

Will be going Japan for 5 days in Nov..

Just converted $1000 SGD to JPY (@105.1) at Youtrip to secure the rate.

How much cash do i need to bring for a family of 3?

I read that Train tickets cannot top up using credit card.

If I have 1k sgd in YouTrip wallet and try pay at major departmental store, will the YouTrip auto do the yen transaction and deduct?

I did. Suica & Passmo super easy to setup in Apple Wallet. But you can’t top up using YouTrip. Cos it’s not accepted by Apple.
I forget which other multi currency card that works with  Pay

youtrip is the best in terms of exchange rate.
But in Japan quite useless becoz many place dun take master/ visa. :/
If you are referring to small premises like the size of our pasar malam stall or bubble tea shop, possibly no terminal. But if bigger ones like Lawson, malls, supermarket, even all those ramen bar shops with 20ish seats also accept cards. Of course, cash is still a must no matter what
