I just got my monthly statement and need to pay by Sep 14. Any idea if the rebate can come in time? Or can I deduct the rebate when I make my payment if I don't receive it by Sep 14?

I am planning to book a holiday to Yogyakarta, AirAsia and the hotel I guess will cost me about $600. I also have the Singpost SCB card which gives 7% off. Wondering which card to use.

i do wonder though, $500 spend is counted from when? when I got the confirmation SMS or during my billing cycle.

My fee waiver was refused and I cancelled my card, forfeiting optimum$ I had earned. Then later they called me to reinstate the card, waive off the annual fees and I got back the optimum$. Think annual fee waiver is seasonal for this card, really depends on the flavor of their management.

This is what the terms and conditions say:

This Spend and Get Campaign ("Promotion") is only valid for cardmembers ("Cardmembers") of principal and supplementary credit cards ("Credit Cards") issued by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Singapore Branch who have received the promotional SMS or electronic direct mailer ("eDM") and make the requisite spend using their Credit Cards as per these terms. The aforementioned SMS and eDM are non-transferable and the Promotion is valid till 30 September 2016 ("Promotional Period").

I got the SMS on 12th Aug and it said "from now until 30th Sep" so it is more than a monthly cycle.

There is no mcc for online transaction. Only a tag to indicate.

So,for credit cards which gives more reward points for online transactions, they look for the online tag.


For credit cards which gives more reward points for merchant specific transactions, they look for mcc.

I have purchased at Redmart and paid using both citibank cash back and ocbc frank and were awarded 8% and 6% cash rebate respectively. So, redmart transaction is coded with a Grocery MCC and given an online tag.

I checked with Redmart and they said that their merchant code is 5411 which is grocery and supermarket.

i ate at yayoiken but transaction comes under meidi ya. not sure if it is coded as supermarket instead of restoran, or is it cos i used paywave or some contactless mode.
