Please advise this forum of the status once you get the statement. I am assuming the ANZ mark-up will be 2.5%, and the Optimum$ earning will be 5%, yielding net 2.5%.
Hi I got my statement. So I can see both the original Eur amount as well as SGD amount and on calculation it is 2.5% over the exchange rate on xe.com. I think 1% is charged by mastercard and 1.5% is charged by ANZ.

I also got 5% optimum $. Actually not 5%. There has been rounding and also there was about 40% of my which was not dining but it was local spend in Singapore before my trip overseas trip. So that brought down the avg optimum $ to about 2.8%.

Thanks for sharing. Just for info, the exchange rate should be based on exchange rate of mastercard on the posting date. https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/consumers/get-support/convert-currency.html

Think better to book through agoda/expedia etc. These classified under travel cat. Actual hotel website can be travel or leisure cat, depending on the merchant code.

Last time asked CSO, she told me payment via agoda/hotels.com/expedite is under Travel...
Payment over the hotel frontdesk is under Dinning..

not sure about payment via actual hotel website..

anyway just some quick information sharing, i've booked hotel in hk for my dec trip, made a direct prepayment to them. and it is under dining and leisure category :) make sense since some bros here have confirmed that payment to hotel upon checking in is under that category too

I think that means hotels have their own merchant codes. SO anz will group it under leisure

hope im that lucky when next year march comes! do you guys ask for waiver after annual fee shows up on statement, or before that call for it already.

Can only ask for waiver when it appears on the statement. I called the cso before it appeared and she told me waiver request cannot be done before it appears on the statement

Signed up the card on Monday, no news on approval.

Called yesterday and today, 24hour line is engaged forever.

Well Done!

as a general rule of thumb from what i gathered here, if you book via travel website then its travel. directly to hotel is considered leisure (though not extensively tested)

i have different experience. Applied on 20th Oct. Called in to check on 27th and was told approved on 25th. Received card on 29th. The line is picked up immediately after going through some of the automated number responses
