See my post above.

if someone steals my car or my bag, in a while (not sure how long) the person will be notified that an airtag is tracking him.

He then have an opportunity to throw it away to prevent me from locating my possession.

In short, airtag is only useful if the item is lost and no one decides to misappropriate the item

Having said that, I will still buy as I am a sucker for Apple product and have the tendency to lose things😅

That's true, AirTag is useless for finding a stolen item unless the thief is not using Apple devices but Apple device from someone passing helps to relay the location...

On the bright side, you won't be tracked if someone puts an AirTag in your car or bag.

Put in luggage. Then check in. when arrival at destination, can track if your luggage is coming onto the belt anot. that is when travel is resumed.....

then many people, skycap, cabin crews, passengers around belt will get notified since Apple can detect tag is not with owner, that will be quite annoyed.

we dont know yet the definition of 'following', how long in terms of time and distance until a notification is sent.

But i think it will annoy the hell out of your co-worker first lol

Can use for your pets or your kids.
It will apparently beep when it is not connected to your iPhone. Which can annoy the hell out of your pets or kids, or their Teachers in class

Honestly, the use cases are getting less and less due to the constraints that Apple is implementing. Maybe tiles will see increased sales instead when people realise that tiles have more functions than airtag.

Can turn off the alarms I'm sure. Only activate when you lose the items

i have some questions.
1. What if you lose your iphone instead of airtag? Can your airtag send out an alert the moment you step away X metres away from phone to alert you and retrieve it? (this will be super useful if you left your phone in a CAB for example)
2. Airtags works by relying on other iphones in vicinity (if i'm not wrong). So will it still work if the airtag is lose in a deserted area without any apple products nearby? Can airtag still be tracked via GPS to recover the lost item?

yes, keep one airtag in your pocket/wallet, if you lose your iPhone, airtag will start beeping after sometime.

It'll only beep by itself if it's not connected to your iPhone for more than 3 days

1) If you lose your iPhone, you can already use Find My on another device/web to ping your iPhone to track and use Lost Mode etc, don't need AirTag

2) Yes AirTag uses Find My "mesh-network", in short, it constantly sends out Bluetooth signals and if any iPhone has Find My turned on, it'll pick up the signal and relay to the "central" Find My server and the original AirTag owner will be able to view the last location in which the AirTag sent the Bluetooth ping
Of course everything is encrypted end to end and only the AirTag owner has the decryption key to track the last known location of the AirTag
If you want to read more in depth:
https://www.wired.com/story/apple-find-my-cryptography-bluetooth/
So no, the AirTag will never be found if there's no Find My iPhones within the Bluetooth range of the AirTag
