My colleague in Germany had his bloated battery changed for free. 2 years old and 2 months past warranty. Apple changed it for free. Exploding and fire hazard. Their consumer laws are indeed very different from Singapore.

just to share. apple orchard replaced my iPhone 6 with a new iphone - same color and capacity because of bloated batter for $69. it was out of warranty for more than 3 or 4 years. Model number begins with a “N” for replacement unit.

Apple policy is they will not repair any device with bloated battery. They will offer you a replacement with a refurbished device for the battery replace fee.

Will Apple still allow me to do the $99 replacement? And also do you guys think it will help?

I think I learned my lesson 6 years ago when I replace my iphone5s battery at 3rd party shop. After replacement it's working for the next 3 months, after that everything went downhill, then I opened up the iphone, I noticed some screw missing, I think the cable cover also missing, they did a lousy job. after that, I only go to the Apple store or A-lab.

I think for iphone 8 battery cost $69 only, you can try with apple store, just told them what happen. no harm to try I guess. I think they will quote you first before replacement.

You never know if they might have swapped out your genuine parts for knock offs as well if you don’t watch them.

Yep. made an appointment online @ Apple Orchard for later. Try my luck.
Big question is .. will i benefit more using original Apple battery .... ?

Kinda regret going 3rd party previously. Apple was ok to provide battery replacement (despite its a 3rd party existing), but during the 30min service, they alerted me that they cannot proceed as there was no battery tab. It was missing, and they would not proceed due to risk of damaging the phone.
Alas… lesson learnt.
But at least they confirm will replace as long as previous installation was done properly.
