Other than Colour Calibration (which can be done on the older Apple TV 4K), nothing screams to me as a must-have to upgrade. As hoping for an Apple TV + HomePod soundbar combo 😅

isn't chromecast with google tv a better and cheaper option?

But the annoying thing is no multi user support yet for the Chromecast.

Speed isn't that great either, it works fine, like the speed of most modern Smart TV but better app support. Sometimes watch Netflix 4K, very slight stutter here and there.

Sold it, to wait for new Apple TV and finally they release an update. For me, is because my living room TV, while is a Samsung 4K Smart TV, it was a model without voice, so using YouTube must type very slow.

So rather than buying a new TV, planning to get this Apple TV, and then change TV still can use it anyway with better App support.

Depends on usage. Airplay 2 is still much superior with the ability to AirPlay 4K/120Hz content directly to the TV. Chromecast is unable to do that.

Apps in Apple TV are also more stable and quality is much better compared to Google TV.

I know you Apple fan la, but AirPlay 2 is not superior to Casting. Casting turns your device pretty much into a remote only, where-as AirPlay 2 is pushing media from your device to the display. Exception is HomePod where it can get music direct from Apple Music.

AirPlay definitely is also good, but streaming lies on the devices, so it takes up battery life more so than Google's casting method.

It's the device, in this case the Chromecast that don't support 4K 120Hz, in fact only the new AppleTV 4K supports 4K 120Hz and it's close to $300.

Value wise, confirm Google TV Chromecast better, performance of course Apple TV 4K better, but costs also higher.

Yes in most cases.

But it still depends on individual use cases.

For example, if you need MeWatch and Singtel Cast, then Chromecast 2020 can only cast from mobile phone.

And if you are really into Apple eco system, then Apple TV is still worth it.

I have old Chromecast 1st gen (occasionally using), old Apple TV 3rd gen (seldom using) and Mi Box S (main TV box).

Chromecast 2020 is kind of Mi Box S killer with the strange exception of SingTel Cast app (SingTel TV Go works).

As for Starhub TV+, none of the TV box works directly (not cast) except Starhub's own lousy Starhub TV+ box.

https://www.theverge.com/2021/4/23/...motion-controls-accelerometer-three-axis-gyro

Apple’s new Siri Remote doesn’t come equipped with an accelerometer or gyroscope, which means it won’t work as a motion controller in certain Apple TV games.
The change means that the new Siri Remote won’t work with certain Apple TV games that rely on motion controls. According to code in tvOS 14.5 seen by MacRumors, trying to play an incompatible game will lead to the following error message: “To play this game on your Apple TV, you need to connect the Apple TV Remote (1st generation) or a compatible PlayStation, Xbox or MFi controller.”

Apple TV launch for China?

Looks like there will be a Apple TV for China customers.

Apple TV国行版已通过广电审批,正在等待工信部和3C认证审批,产品内置腾讯视频、喵酷、爱奇艺、哔哩哔哩、央视频、YouTube、Disney、Netflix等,预计在9~11月之间发布

The product is expected to have built-in apps for Tencent Video, Miaoku, iQiyi, Bilibili, CCTV, YouTube, Disney, Netflix, etc., and it is expected to be in Sept - Nov.

Great news!
