I bought ss cause I'm active in gym... Hmph...

For active sports, you would want your watch to be as light as possible so that you don’t feel it. No doubt the aluminum will pick up more scratches so you should care too much about appearance if you choose that.

SS is better if you are rough and expect scratches. They are like most dress watch.

That is how I feel

I had the same problem with the first Apple Watch which I think is series 0. I brought it for exchange as it was covered with Apple care warranty. They mentioned coating problem. The exchange one didn’t had the same problem. It’s not due to charging stand.

Yes, my gen 1 version also only have a little peeling.

I'm upgrading from the first Watch Series 0 42mm Stainless Steel, wearing the black sport band daily. I also wear the watch for runs and gym with another coloured sport band frequently. Condition is of the sapphire glass is still flawless, some scratches on the stainless steel case all round, polished afew times, but some scratches are just too deep to remove.

I went to try out the colours of the 3 SS Milanese versions at Apple Store Orchard yesterday. Gold is beautiful, but just doesn't suit me and its difficult to match my daily wear. Silver is classic, but the silver milanese loop is too feminine. Black is just sexy and seemless. It looks like its all glass as the glossy black stainless steel matches the screen when its off and the black milanese loop is just the right colour. Tried matching the black milanese loop with silver stainless steel too, but its not as nice.

Hoping to grab one asap.. anyone knows when the authorised apple retailers will have stainless steel versions? they only have the aluminium ones now...

Agreee with some others. If by accessories you mean screen protectors and cases, IMO don’t. It’s a watch. Wear it like one. When was the last time you bought a case for a watch?

i had the same issue with my series 2 Nike with AC+, Apple did a express replacement for me after the genius access the watch.

this is the apple quality issue ur if u use it normally.

the other issue i think could be u r using a milanese band that scratches the casimg.

i usesd only sport band.

Apple specialist told me best to go aluminum if you do very active sport and doesn’t care much of the appearance of the watch. :)

For active sports, you would want your watch to be as light as possible so that you don’t feel it. No doubt the aluminum will pick up more scratches so you should care too much about appearance if you choose that.

It is normal for the silver SS version and it can be polished off to its original shiny look.

Was in the same dilemma (SS or Aluminium), but this swayed me over:

If this guy's watch can look so good, I don't see an issue with sports on the SS.

Coming from a AWS 2, no regrets on getting the SS. The sapphire screen and looks are to die for. Just did a run with the sports loop, it's modestly heavier than the aluminium, but more like the aluminium being too light.

It's coating corrosion, either from sweat or the harsh elements. Nothing to do with the bands.

Hi guys, would like to ask regds to applecare+, if your watch have scratches, e.g. aluminium, it is considered 1 case of accidental damage, Apple will exchange a new / refurbished set for you?

This has been discussed many times in other forums. Cosmetic damages such as scratches to screen will not be covered by Apple Care or Apple Care+. As long as the functionality of the watch is not affected, no repair/replacement will be carried out.
