Component servicing and repair is the same. Unless you're talking about replacing a part totally. Then you need to scout eBay for compatible components. Else upgrade everything to modern group set.

Nice. whats the BB and headtube standard on it? Prob with alot of modern stuff is they keep on changing the standards to force people to upgrade frames urgh

I end up installing the k-edge on my carbon and the Garmin forward mount on my bianchi steel bike.

K-edge too expensive to buy so much.

K edge got chiong one. Ebay abt $3-$4 if you dont mind. Same cnc aluminium

You only casual rider only right? And I dont think you hit the trails either since your waifu is not on a mtb.

If so then dont bother with 5.10s. It's not like you'll be bunny hopping over the place where you need the extra grip on the pedals. Not to mention 5.10s soles are stiff as well, makes walking less nuanced.

Same goes for cleats.

Just get rubber soled shoes like Vans or Converse if your pedal is spiked. If its just flat plastic, any shoe will do.
I did hit the trail occasionally. So far three times in about 3 mths. Since mine is spiked, will converse be reliable to withstand the grip?

For 5, 10 can the spikes stick to the sole for lifting a bunny hop effortlessly? Means I don't really have to pump but simply lift my legs only. If yes then I might consider getting. Cleat is too heavy and doesn't suit my style.

The statement on the stiff sole is not true, mtb shoes are more flexible than roadie shoes, plus the cleat is embedded and almost flat to the surface of the sole when u install them. Unlike roadie shoes, cleats are protruded and thus you walk like a duck.

Just bought a second hand S6R Brompton from one of the forumners here.

The gearing is very extreme. I find it very hard to maintain cadence in its 5th gear, while 6th gear is virtually unusable unless its a gentle downslope.

Ah... nice strategy.

You are using the closest gear (3rd and 4th) and then use the hub gear 2 (direct drive 100% and most efficient) to drive it.

But 50/13 at hub gear 2 is only 3.85, which is still quite low.

ya, my style of riding have changed quite abit these days, now I concentrate on maintaining at 90 cadence and throttle the gears to maintain that target. It does good for my knees.

I beg to disagree. The only point made was that the soles of a specific brand are stiff thus making walking less nuanced.

As to the degree of stiffness and difference in walkability bwt road and MTB cleats I'd made no mention. That's your own assumption isn't it lol?

Not that your comparison bwt cleat types is untrue

5.10 shoes are heavier than say Vans, but stiffness of the sole is slight at best.
