I targeting cervelo p3 liao

Trek 1000 SL around 9.5kg sora/tiagra 8 speed with da crank traditional geo 53.5 toptube ALU
Very smooth ride, bit slow but its comfortble even at High speed

Cervelo s1 7.95 105 with da crank effective TT 53.5
Alu .Quite stiff but not as stiff as carbon comfortable for long rides but doesn't feel as good as the trek , best bike i ridden in terms of comfort and speed

Rikkalu ti 7.0 kg with full da
Unknown ett

Flexes around the chain stay area can feel the wheels rubbing . only a short ride so can't gauge much

Merida reacto ett 53.5 ultegra with FSA omega carbon
Current bike feels faster than cervelo not as aggressive positioning but its fine quite stiff no wheel rub has abit wooden feel

Gueorotti record with record unknown ett

Short ride 3km or so siffest bike I ever ridden feels very time trial bike feel

Nice experience list. :o

I started off with the budget Urata road bike to see if I have the interest to resume back cycling.

But soon enough, with enough rides and poison, I gotten a Merida CX bike..
Really like the versatility of it. I do get occasional stares and questions, probably wondering why my tires so fat. I'm running 37c touring tires btw as opposed to the stock 35c CX specific tires.

I do ride offroad when I got the time during weekends, and don't need to worry much about drains or potholes.

As the new product year approaches, was looking at some of the news.

I am tempted to get a Carbon CX or Steel CX, but dunno whether the
"upgrade" will be worth the cash. Ride quality difference is the priority. :s8:

Hi guys. :) Been looking around the internet and nothing too conclusive - so perhaps first hand knowledge is best for the direct questions. Am seriously considering selling my Trek DS and getting a first roadie - the last time I rode one was when I was much, much younger. I've been on flat bars all my life. Few questions.

1) Fitting
So far, I've read that a 51-54cm bike should be good for me - I'm 1.73m. I read about getting a fitting done, but that's additional cost, and is it really necessary?

Also been looking on Togoparts for second hand bikes to keep the cost down, and I've decided not go with carbon but alum alloy frame instead - read concerns about cracked frames in carbon bikes that are not detectable.

2) Safety of riding on pedestrian pathways
I'm still a pavement/PCN cyclist for now - so I wonder if that practise can continue until I get to East Coast Park - a 2.5km ride to/from my place. My main routes when I go is usually up and down ECP, sometimes to Gardens East. I'd done Changi Village and back before, but all via the PCN - not entirely comfortable on the roads still. Had a friend die in a biking accident, so I'm extremely mindful about riding on roads.
- I assume road tyres will get stuck in drain grilles? Any other issues to look out for, other than the rougher ups/downs?

3) Adaptability
Is it easy for someone who's used to a flat bar and the relaxed posture to adapt to a road bike? Also, is it normal for people to cycle with MTB SPD pedals on road bikes (which I am used to)? I notice most people seem to wear SPD-SL pedals/shoes, which are a little difficult to walk in, particularly since I intend use my bike for commute too.

4) Any good bikes to recommend that are lower priced? Preferably those with not too aggressive riding postures too, if such a thing is possible. Or should I stick to trawling TGP? Am looking to get 105 class components at least, something to last a decent amount of time.

Sounds like your palms are supporting the weight of your body as you lean forward to cycle. I suppose your riding position is more aggressive and aerodynamic?

In this case, you need wide grips to reduce the pressure exerted between your palms and the grips. I recommend Ergon grips.

I am using one pair now.. and i don't even need to wear gloves even when doing 128km round island.

I would like to try round island too,how u do it,PCN or road ?

Why not get a hybrid which is closer to road bike specs?

1) sizing wise you are right. If you buy a new road bike, nego with the shop to throw in a basic bike fitting.
2)Just ride slowly on pathways. Rmb that the law states that you are not suppose to ride on pavement.
3)You will get used to it soon enough. You can use mtb spd, personal preference.
4) whats your budget

Hi guys. :) Been looking around the internet and nothing too conclusive - so perhaps first ....

1) Eh i think Shimano world at Sports hub got free bike fitting machine the last time I was there. Can prolly call them to check

3) No issue with mtb cleats on a road frame unless you need the super stiff road soles for some performance reason. Bar change is ok luh, I think that getting used to the sensitivity of thinner road tires is more challenging, esp at lower speeds

2,4) Get a CX/Gravel bike. Slightly less aggressive road style frame with "fatter" tires. Can go to Green Corridor or T15 even if you're in the mood.

Any here bought crius foldie before? Is this a reliable brand coz it seems like a China brand? Do u know what's the diff between master v-ii $600+ and velocity $800+? Both are sora 9 speed.

Or should I get crius full suspension SRAM X7 10 speed $1100?

I want my ride style to be less aggressive since I mostly do city riding. Commuting from point A to B. My handle bar length is 640mm should I change to a longer one ?

If you change to a longer one, your arms would be more out-stretched if i visualize correctly.

One way is to get an extension stem to increase the height so that your body don't need to lean forward that much. In this case, you have to adjust the stem vertically. Coupled with ergon grips, your palms shouldn't be that easily numb. The extension will also allow the rider to have more forward reach for a more aggressive riding position if needed, and can be easily adjusted.

The picture above shows more horizontal reach rather than vertical.

Mostly on road. What bicycle are you cycling? You can always join your respective bicycle brand cycling group on Facebook and meet them up. Tern, Brompton, Tyrell etc have their own events, activities and round island rides. ;)

My friend has one Crius Velocity..I nv test on it cos might be bias but a neutral friend of mine did(Not one with a foldie), she commented Velocity rolling resistance more than my P9...Nt as smooth..

But if u wan get, Velocity has the Tern style frame which IMHO is nicer..

Just drop by bikeactually and test lor..

How much is tern p9? Double the price of crius? If it is less than $1000, I will consider it over the crius.

Is Mybikeshop a good place to buy tern? Any alternative shops?

Last time I went was walk in but it was some organised trip so I have no idea if someone informed them prior.

Theres the machine in front of a tv screen to simulate cycling and a staff assigned to that station.

Best you give them a call lol
