Maybe rough uneven roads with potholes yes.

On flat roads I don't think so. :s13:

Since Garmin bike computer is so expensive, is it better to buy a $399 waterproof Sony phone to use? Can do everything from measuring speed/distance/time, to uploading statistics, navigating, playing music, taking photos/videos, and making calls.

Screen is also bigger. Only cons is suck too much battery if never put to standby mode or screen sleep.

Maybe can consider this?

GARMIN GETS TINY WITH NEW EDGE 20 / 25 GPS CYCLING COMPUTERS

get at least edge 510, can do more than speed/distance. unlike handphone, bike computer can use for 3 yrs or more, you don't have to upgrade every year. garmin also waterproof(splash-proof to be exact).

if you go oversea like me very often, bike computer is very useful.

can monitor your heart rate and cadence too. i uncle liao, measuring heart rate very important , when climbing at taiwan, have to make sure i dont use too much effort.

usually ride is very long, hence battery life must be good.

then can plot your course and follow it.

and then it is very small, just mount it on the handle bar. handphone too big, mount on handlebar too ugly and block your hand.

overall, bike computer is worth the money. last time i also like you all " why need bike comp? , handphone can do the job what."

I mean if ppl wanna post on facebook whats stopping them from doing so ? If your main aim is to post your rides on facebook and it makes you ride more why not?

i dont really post on facebook only post here lol.

you can use phone la but then your phone die how your family gonna contact you ? Plus gps devices not that big, not intrusive.

now garmin has the new glomass gps chip i think its more accurate than the phone gps chip.

Ok, bike case.
But cycling overseas not as simple as doing in sg. Here got problem just flag cab, overseas rides may not end up at starting point, some hotels may not allow bike to go into rooms etc. A lot of planning is def needed.

Hello pros, i've got a question to ask, my crank threads (due to forceful wrong direction of fixing the pedals in) are gone and my pedal simply just drop out, is there any fix to it? if i need to but new one is its possible to buy the crank arm alone rather then the whole crank set?
