I can draft. I can pace. But when they sprint, I'm like a fly to them. Haha.

Brompton is actually better to train on then the Birdy. It makes me out more then the Birdy. Maybe it's my preference , but I feel that igh are inefficient in power transfer.

How so?......

Maybe your rohloff hub is truly superior, but i have tried BWR igh, sram and SA-5 speed hubs and they are really no way compared to the efficiency and speed of a cassette derailleur system.

The moment i removed the sram internal hub on my tern and replaced it with ultegra drive-train, my rolling speed increased by at least 7-8 kmh. :s22:

I've tried SRAM dual drive too, on a p27.

On max gear, it's ridiculously hard to peddle. It's harder to drive then the capreo and yet slower. Stupid gear.

Unless on the direct drive gear, the increased ratio high gear on the sturney archer. It's just not efficient. I don't know how to explain with evidence/numbers. But it's my opinion on sturney and SRAM igh.

Although , the bromptons are really good for commuting.

Brompton is a good commuter bike mainly because of the fold and the rollers... drive train abit on the sucky side :p

MV introduce the Schlumpf Mountain Drive on their FB page.. giving an additional 6 more speed, price: $1200

Its common knowledge that IGH is always less efficient compared to cassette derailleur system.. due to the weight, friction between the planetary gears inside the igh.

Other than the direct drive, the low/high gear settings require much more energy to peddle compared to cassette derailleur system with equivalent gear ratio. I can say this for SA, low end SRAM and Brompton BWR igh hubs. This is very evident for long distance riding.

If you look at the really strong Brompton riders, they usually only use 2 speed (55" and 73.5") brompton.

But then they are also the fastest brompton on flat road... And can also climb mount Faber. :s22:
