Best bang for buck would be go for Polygon. You can change the frame if you still have some spare cash... then sell the Polygon frame.

The good old Polygon saying, "Buy the bike, sell the frame"

The people who value and see campagnolo as "art" and "heritage" and are willing to pay the premium might be dwindling.

Honestly, I've never been fascinated with campy, cannot interchange unlike sram/shimano chains/cassettes, ridiculously expensive, how they manage to survive for so long is a miracle.

Even a crank upgrade also need to change bb, wtf?

if you can handle off road, i assume it means you ride BT/T15 often, then your handling/balancing should be better than the average road rider.

i dont get what you mean by not riding steadily on road.

in any case, the Trance is more worthwhile imo, enough travel to do just about anything, stair rides, jumps, trail, pcn.

if you like trails only, then get Anthem, better geometry thats suited for climbing and general trail use, never heard of Stance so no opinion.

all Giant mtb use the DW linkage (they have a different name but it's essentially the same technology, Giant won the lawsuit anyway), so they're all fantastic for climbing and descending.

Hi SyraLeo,my not steady meaning "Buay zai" if car passes by i might feel shaky that why best if my feet can touch the ground to feel safe

Really depends what discipline you want to go into and your budget.
An AM bike is the best way to go if you want a do it all bike in general sense.

Why don't you tell us what you are riding now and what you don't like about it and what you wish it can do better?

Hi Promethus,i like to cycle but currently dont own any bike as usually i will rent those mountainbike at east coast to cycle. This is my 1st time buying bike thats why i need advice from the situ here :),I am interested in the dropper seat that u mention, does this 3 model hv it (Giant Anthem,Giant Trance & Giant Stance),thks for helping, cheers

well, thats simple.

Faster : that does not depend so much on the components on the bike (mostly it depends on the rider's strength and endurance)

Stable : both are as stable as long as you keep a good balance

light : very subjective, it depends on the frame weight + components chosen etc.

Why are you going after a cross bike ?
if you need a comparison between a flat bat and a drop bar, the main diff is the number of hand positions you can have.

I hope this helps :D

Yes, I thought that might be strange, but boh paing bah, the way campy markets is like that the higher end models use the Ultra, lower use Power.

that being said, many ppl will swear by the smoothness of the hiher end mechanical shifting

but you're the discussion is like dissing campy all these hiwle then suddenly ask me this question, like trolling mah.

Their new design I heard from fat cat mechanic cut production cost and stiffer and more modular.

So maybe make workers redundant with new design. Anyway all companies have retrench and reorg de. This may translate to higher profit and lower cost and maybe campy price will start falling.

Once it fall I think they can sell cheaper to OEM and market adoption may increase.

Seriously, once go campy never go back de. It's just that nice to use.

Actually, their new design the 4 crank bolt one is actually copy shimano design, they just follow what the market leader do.

but then again they have carbon fiber everything ! how cool is that.

and their wheels though the rim design is abit slow to follow up they have very very good bearings.

Shimano have cheap cassette and chains, but their deraileurs, and shifters are expensive relatively to campag lol

Those rental bikes will be closer to XC in terms of suspension.

If you want my advise, I say, go for AM bike. It's a better all rounder until you decide the discipline you want to venture into.

Giant makes their own dropper post and I believe can be included with a top up from any LBS that stock Giant.

After market got many choices, Rockshox Reverb, KS, FOX etc.

Diss campy ? No la, Dissing campy is like dissing Ferrari or Lamborghini
Why would anyone disrespect a company that makes quality products ?

anyway, its all about the ride and what makes the rider happy right ?
same with video cards or mobile phones
Nvidia or AMD
Android or Apple
As long as the user is happy no need to fuss over these things mah.

I asked you because you are the only campy user I know in this forum :p

Ya, I agree with the reasons you and Fatcat stated, I just hope they uphold the standards and manage to adjust the price.
Personally, I don't see them dropping the price too much, they need to maintain the quality too.
They are not in the market to compete with suntour or microshift.

happy riding bro

i dont find them that much more expensive, the "savings" are cancelled out by the prices of their cassettes.

and wiggle lists campy SR11 as 2.1k usd, DA11 as 1.3k usd, pretty much sums up campy.

buy it for the "art and historical" value, or just buy to show off.
