Me. I bought a new old stock bianchi 1998 veloce from eBay. Price about $2200 after shipping and no gst.

I have since bought white bar tape for it.

That's a beauty you got there.

How's the price and possibility of component repair for vintages like this?

Can anyone advise how come my chain when cruising without pedaling and switching gears, will get loose, like it cannot latch on the cassette hub for a few seconds then after awhile ok again.

I have brought to lbs but they say no problem because they basically just change gears and pedal for their diagnostic.

Do i need to buy a new chain or lube the chain or change the whole drive train.

What shoes u all wear for cycling? I am thinking whether to get 5, 10 as it is heavy and expensive.

My current sports shoes spoil liao.

Should I go for cleat? Need to spend how much more to change paddle and shoes?

You only realise this prob when you start pedaling? Or the momment the chain drops and hits against the spokes?

What I can guess, from the limited info and not seeing the issue first hand is either 3 things.

1) Chain (how old?) is worn out and stretched too much to maintain tension

or

2) RD spring not maintaining enough passive tension to retain the chain

or

3) spocket/crank teeth too worn (least likely)

Leading to the chain jumping due to lack of retaining tension when u freewheel over bumps etc

You only casual rider only right? And I dont think you hit the trails either since your waifu is not on a mtb.

If so then dont bother with 5.10s. It's not like you'll be bunny hopping over the place where you need the extra grip on the pedals. Not to mention 5.10s soles are stiff as well, makes walking less nuanced.

Same goes for cleats.

Just get rubber soled shoes like Vans or Converse if your pedal is spiked. If its just flat plastic, any shoe will do.

I used to wear clipless, but recently i switched back to wearing my old indoor soccer shoes. I gave up on efficiency for relac and ease when riding.

It is always not easy to spend 700-1000 for a bicycle not knowing how passionate or motivation. It's quite a decent sum afterall.

700-1000 price range is still consider affordable. They are some who even consider brompton price at $2800 as cheap.

Component servicing and repair is the same. Unless you're talking about replacing a part totally. Then you need to scout eBay for compatible components. Else upgrade everything to modern group set.

I end up installing the k-edge on my carbon and the Garmin forward mount on my bianchi steel bike.

K-edge too expensive to buy so much.

So which bike computer would you recommend? Seems you have used a few.
if you have the money get an edge 500 it has everything from power to hrm, as well as a easy to use computer and good interface with computer and their software.

I highly recommend getting at least speed/cad and hrm for training, recording is optional. but i think the polar cad100 is not too bad, pity the memory of 6 rides is too small imho
