For those proposed cycling routes, do they include pcn or just roads? I do drive myself but majority of the time I travelled by expressways to get to the destination.

To travel by bike, I have no idea on how to get to the destination like from Jurong to amk. i prefer to set out from home rather than drive out, park the car, dismount the bike and cycle from there. To mount and dismount the bike from car damn troublesome. Is there any local app for cycling routes?:s11:
I use road just cycle

SG quite easy to navigate just get onto the main trunk roads can Liao
E.g bukit timah road Commonwealth avenue west
Geylang road
Upper serrangon road

If you can outgrow your current aleoca, you can fly on road bike. :s13:

I have cycling friends who cycle 50km wioth aleoca bikes from AMK==> punggol==> sembawang==> woodlands==> Kranji/Neo Tiew==> boon lay...

He claimed its way more shiong than cycling 150km on his tern verge x18 at 26kmh. :s13:

Don't need to be sarcastic. :o:(

Everytime u wana go cycle, think about butt sore, siong cycling, nt smooth, heavy bicycle..You would wana uturn instead of pushing urself to go for it..

My ex-colleague after asking me about foldies end up go buy a Aleoca cos the wife say, u buy cheap and try first..If going to pick up the hobby then buy better bicycle..The way i see him, i think giving up soon..He recently went to cycle 17km, took him 2hrs 30mins and a pretty sore butt after that..

I would like to commute daily on my foldie (Vert V8) but I find it difficult to do. My commute is about 16km one-way, Upper Thomson to Yishun (quite hilly). It takes me an hour to cover that distance. By the time I'm done, I'm already hot & sweaty. Currently, I commute by bicycle once a week.

Since we're on the issue of cheap bicycles, is this more of a cheap bicycle problem or more of a fitness (or lack of) problem? Will getting a "better" bicycle make my commute slightly easier & more comfortable?

nothing beats a good engine la..... but the mentality very important..... if chui thinking, "sh1tty bike" all the time, then most likely wun be riding fast :s22:

Vert V8 is a pretty decent bicycle. And Upper Thomson-Sembawang road is quite hilly, especially near the army barracks there.

Normal to sweat. :s13:

I actually thought since you always commute there, so theoretically you should be a much stronger rider than most of us due to frequent slope climbing. :s13:

One of my ex-colleagues has this old rusty MTB that his neighbour gave him. He went cycling with my friend and I. We told him we would meet at Bishan and then go ECP and CV and back.

We were shocked when he showed up on his old rusty MTB. Our normal route is considered warm up because one can't reallly go fast on Kallang PCN but he was literally out of breath once we reach SAJC (PCN at Potong pasir).

When we reached Boon Keng, he told us he wanna go home. We haven't even reach ECP. :s22: In the end, seeing his state, we escorted him back to Hougang.

He thought we were joking when we told him the total distance from AMK to Boon Keng is only 9km before he called it quits, and we actually still have 51km to go.

Cos I always get overtaken by road bikes while climbing slopes, which explains why I was asking.

More like fitness problem.. 9km is a joke. Last time I could ride much longer distance using aleoca bikes.
