Hi Headhunter,

I jut make another small change, now
I would like to know "which company name should I put in my resume?"

Meaning to say:
My payroll and benefit is from XYZ Recruitment agency but
I assigned to ABC Pte Ltd, to work there.

So in resume, I put company as ABC
or XYZ(onsite to ABC?)

Thanks again

Hi Headhunter,

Like to seek your advice. Let's say I gave an email confirmation on acceptance of job offer to headhunter/ recruiter, but haven't sign the official letter of appointment with the offering company.

Then came another better job offer from another company. Can I still reject the earlier job offer? Am I liable for any monetary compensation?

Thanks.

Best way is to browse more job ads. Try to read up online. Websites like investopedia are good to help you start off with

You can reject the offer anytime until you start work with the company.

Technically even if you sign the contract but dun start work nothing the company can do to you.

I know got a lot of cases of recruitment agencies try to penalize the candidate but to my knowledge it is non enforceable

Just went for an interview,

1) Assuming I am the first candidate, how long does it typically take for the co. to get back for a second interview invitation?

2) Typically, how many candidates are shortlisted for the 1st round interview?

3) Typically, how many candidates are shortlisted for the final round interview?

Thanks HH.

1) 1 week. Unless the HR has scheduled for the manager to interview other candidates during the week or next week, of which they will want to interview all the candidates first before informing you if you have been shortlisted for 2nd round

2) Anywhere from 1 to 10 people, depending on how difficult the role is. It is pretty common for companies to hire the first person they interview because the role is difficult in terms of skills required

3) 2 or 3.

Not true, the contract may have a clause withstanding the fact on agreement to join the firm otherwise a payment tantamount to the said salary in terms of 1 - 3 months may be payable.

So read before signing

both of u r CPA holders but can't go and read the MOM website?

note that OT is not a law in Singapore at ur pay grade (assuming both r professionals)

OT pay is covered specifically under Act 4 of Employment Act.

How they determine OT pay is not by title or qualifications or industry but by salary (more or less solely) and specific role

So even if your company calls you a Director of Operations but pays you 1k a month you will still be eligible for OT.

Do note that OT pay is only eligible if your pay is below 2.5k a month for office staff (or 4.5k a month if you are doing technical or manual jobs)

And yes it is common practice. Very few companies will pay you OT pay if your basic salary is more than 2.5k

I have no experience in this area i am afraid.

Well for some companies they even give 3 months for junior to mid level positions.

I would say is not very common, but differs greatly from company to company.

Most companies are on 1 month notice, and 1 week during probation period

Let's be realistic, if you are a small fry, how often will a company engage a lawyer to pursue a civil suit?

Contracts of Service & Termination - Ministry of Manpower

If a new recruit has signed the letter of employment but subsequently informed the employer that he does not intend to start work with the company and failed to turn up on his first day of work, the Employment Act does not apply as the employer-employee relationship has not started.

Hence the employer will not be able to claim notice pay or any compensation under the Employment Act.

If the employer wishes to claim compensation from the recruit, he should pursue a civil claim through his own lawyer.
