Hi HH,

In your opinion, do you think an offer of basic annual salary of 12% (Avg VB was not disclosed) over current annual package (basic + 3 mths vb) is a good deal in current market? The benefits & leave in current company is a bit better than the new company.

The offered position is a MNC vendor/consulting role vs current position as in-house IT engineer in foreign bank.

Thanks.

consulting role is mostly better, but depends on which SI/vendor. Some are better than others. Salary wise 12% is fair in today's job market.

The framework for both roles are essentially the same. Promotion at CA is almost every year for the first 3 jumps. At my side its 3 years-5 years for the first 2 jumps.

If it is essentially the same, it seems to me, if i were you, it makes more sense to stay unless the other job scope is so compelling.

Very surprise to hear that most SI/vendor will pay better than technology roles in banks. May I know which are the better SI/vendors to work for in your opinion?

In most cases, they won't even bother checking

More reputable ones currently are Tata consulting, Cognizent

Well i don't think that that in itself is a good reason to say. You should think of another reason.

Team lead, depends on size of team you will be leading. But of course if you are leading a team of bank tellers then your compensation will not be so high.

Typically, Bigger the team, higher the compensation.

Section head can earn 10k or more per month usually

Hi,

It seemed to me that a lot of companies do not peg the employees to market rate even though they claim that salary evaluation is done. This seemed to cause a lot of loyal ordinary good performing employees to lose out in terms of salary (unless you are a superstar). Whereas those who jumped are always ahead even though they may not possess the experience/skillset that the incumbent has. Is this "unfair" practice normal everywhere?

If the company itself not earning much, they where got the ability to peg your salary to market rate? Plus what exactly is market rate? Who decides what is the market rate when , like you said, everyone is drawing diff kind of salaries for the same role

Looking for advice

Hi guys,

I'm from the IT industry working with one of the MNC giant as a pre sales/sales.
I need some advice here.

1)I've posted my resume on monster.com, jobdb, jobstreet and linkedin, received many response from linkedin and monster. So I'm wondering where else can I post to get better opportunities(IT industries) out there?

2) I'm trying to get into other IT giants. So the question is should I sent my resume to the top head hunter company so as to get decent opportunities? If yes, which are the better head hunter for IT industries that i should approach?

Hi.. I'm talking about good, profitable companies here. Always talking about talent retention but just not doing enough unless you are in a senior role (250k and above). Correct me if my understanding is wrong, mnc usually has a salary range for every grade for specific roles (range advised by HR consulting firms) and if you happen to start off with a low base, usually it's just too bad even though you can be a good performing employee (grade A appraisal) unless the boss loves you and has the power to do recommendations. In this case, the best option to me is go to someplace where you are better appreciated.

Hi HH,

Just wanna ask if my employment period for different coy is as follows

#1 -2years
#2 - 6 months (left due to different job scope from what was conveyed during interview and JD)
#3 - 1 year (got laid off)
#4 - 2.5 years

Like that consider as job hopper? How do I put it in resume so employers won't brush me off as a job hopper before even asking why did I leave my precious roles?
