It's to catch Shinkansen to Nagano. I have no problem and no choice with the death stare when navigating the station as long as I don't get killed 😀

If I can get in to the train at 7am without causing inconvenience to other passengers, this should be good enough no?
If rush hour, can u even squeeze into the train?

u might be push inwards & have trouble getting out. sometimes in packed train i need to force my way out

have u considered luggage forward like Yamato? or if u dun need everything in Nagano can consider luggage store in Tsukiji. otherwise feel free to try your luck, might turn out fine. maybe try taking the first train better chance?

I checked that the peak hour starts from 7 to 9, and my direction is from Tsukiji to Ueno should be against the crowd direction right? And anyway I am prepared to get out earlier to siam any expected crowd but I really have no idea as this is first time to Tokyo.

Having said that, I am thought about it and will send 2 big luggage with Yamato, only carry a cabin size and a backpack. I am looking at Shinkansen that leaves Ueno at about 8am, so am fine if need to get out earlier but not later than 7.15pm to be safe.

Initially thought of taking from Tokyo St. but I guess it would be even more crowded in the morning and alot of walking between stations so turns out Ueno is faster and cheaper Shinkansen price.

i think better leave Tsukiji earlier give some margin of safety since u got shinkansen to catch. also need some walking from Ueno Hibiya subway station to JR Ueno station for your shinkansen.

Hi all, just wanted to check something in advance of my trip.

Would there be any issues using YouTrip to top up the Apple Wallet Suica? Like convert SGD into JPY in Youtrip and then top up the Apple Wallet Suica. Heard some cards may not work in Japan...

Thanks!

Anyone taken train from Sapporo to Kutchan before? Can this direction be done with IC Card, or is it also cash-only / need special paper ticket like if you go from Kutchan to Sapporo?

Flight lands in New Chitose at like 7am, don't really want to go to Niseko so early and have no room to check in / nothing to do. Planning to spend the morning and lunch in Sapporo before heading over but not sure what's the best way to go (ski busses don't really seem to depart from Sapporo, and I don't really want to take a ~1hr train back to the airport if I can help it).

No problem… I tried adding a ICOCA card and topping up… got options to choose other cards in your Apple wallet also… top up also can choose which card not necessary have to be the same card as the card that setup the card…

You dun need to convert to Yen first to do the top up… if the Yen wallet doesn’t have enough money it will auto convert the balance from your SGD wallet…

But make sure u have a stable data connection… got once I tried to top up but unable to coz I overused my data and was restricted to very low speed and somehow the top up failed…

Thank you for sharing. Is it necessary to have the YouTrip card in Apple Wallet to do so?

Any Credit Card or Debit card that can be added into Apple Wallet will do… not necessarily have to be YouTrip… I use Trust CC sometimes to topup also… I think I top up more than 4-5 times 1000yen throughout my recent trip…

Thanks. That's interesting because I thought Trust CC is a Visa and would have issues being used in Japan.

Why would Visa have issues being used in Japan?

I've used Trust quite extensively this trip due to their 1.5% cashback promo... for hotels, booking for the train and river cruise tickets, food, souvenirs etc... only used YouTrip to spend off my $200 NS credit...

Can use Trust to paywave there using phone or Apple Watch?
