Yamaha doesn't have any products for Front Surround Systems category that comes with built-in players.

Is the YHT-S401 already released? I went to Courts at Causeway Point, the rep says SG still not available and was surprised to see it retailing at $999. Thought I read it's $699 or something. Btw how much is the 401 retailing for? Thanks.

Hi I've been looking at the Yamaha soundbar either the yht-s400 or ysp-2200. I have a Samsung LED smart Tv (not so smart IMO but never mind). I've been watching movies and am frustrated that during the dialogue the volume is soft so I turn it up. Then the super hero appears and suddenly I have to scramble for the remote to turn it down because of the booming bass [I currently use the Bose Companion 5 as my system].

Question is: with the Yamaha soundbar will I be able to hear the conversations and not scramble for the remote when there is sudden explosion in the movie?

Another question: what's the most compelling reason for me to get the ysp-2200 instead of the yht-s400?

Final question: what's are the RRP for the YSP-2200 and YHTS400? And where can I get them?

Ok, really final question: any CNY promotions?

I think below feature will help you in this.

UniVolume
This feature maintains a consistent volume level between
different channels, programmes, commercials and
input sources. It can be switched on and off.

UniVolume is available on YSP-2200.

But very sad to say, our shipment will be available only after Chinese New Year [Probably during that week of CNY].

You may consider to have a audition of YSP-2200 if you can bring up your budget.

just bought the YHT-S401 , im a noob in audio system....
if i do not want to use my tv speaker (LG LW6500), i will just need to connect a hdmi cable from my tv hdmi arc point to the hdmi connectors on the subwoofer right?

My hdmi cables are arc type. Had set the hdmi settings on receiver to "on" as well

but i can seems to get any sound from it

Thank you for your purchase.

All your sources [Set-Top Box from Starhub / Singtel, BD Player, Game Consoles, etc] should use HDMI if available to connect to the YHT-S401 subwoofer first. Then only use the S401 HDMI Output to TV with ARC indicated.

From here, you have to check the TV Settings how to turn on the ARC function. Some are auto, some are not. I am not too sure from TV. Maybe you could check with LG.

Go to your TV input list and in SIMPLINK to on/off the TV speaker or HT speaker.

Questions on Yamaha MCR-840

Hi guys,

I am looking at the yamaha mcr-840 to replace my ageing mini hi fi in my room. I am no audiophile but I would like to have a reasonably good sound system. My room is not soundproofed, and the system will be placed on a wooden TV cabinet.

Just like to ask for opinions on this model. Does it offer good sound quality? I listen to mainly new age, classical and vocals.

Also, should I get a higher grade speaker cable to replace the default one that comes with the unit? Will this significantly improve the sound quality?

If you wish to turn AVR into "Standby" mode and use the TV to playback Video & Audio, then go to Menu, HDMI Settings, Turn "ON" the HDMI Pass-Thru mode.

I have a DSP-AX1, but it hasn't been turned on for quite some time. I got it working after plugging it into the socket for an hour, then it worked for 2 hours. I switched it back to 'Standby' mode, then it wouldn't turn back on already!

What's the problem??

Hi!

There are 2 ways you can do it.

Using HDMI is one of the solution. Ensure your connections are AVR -> HDMI -> TV[ARC] Input.

Enable your ARC, some TV is auto. For this, check with your TV Manufacturer.

Another conventional way is to use Digital Audio Output or Analog [Red & White] Output to the AVR.

Nope. HTR-3063 does not have ARC function. Only HTR-3064 onwards will have ARC function.
