Good Day Yamaha,

Just bought RX1030. Connecting my 5.1 system and another pair of speaker under zone 2 but in the same living room. Want to use them as 2.0 for music. Some questions and hope that you could help me :

1) I have blu ray player connected to AV1, PS4 to AV2, both HDMI cable.
Can i use blu ray player to play CD but output is to zone 2 only?
Ans: Yes. You will need a Analog RCA Connection between your Blu-ray Player to your RX-A1030 Analog input. Turn on Zone 2 and select the Analog input that you've connected. That's it.

Can only achieve that using Turner/internet radio/ipad via usb.
Ans: Correct. Any analog sources & Network sources can be output via Zone 2.

2) Do i really need dedicate CD player for the above purpose for using zone 2 function?

Ans: Not really. Unless you would like to have a dedicated Zone CD Player for more analog sounding.

3) Ways that i can connect my android phone wireless to 1030 and output via zone 2 for music?

I'm surprised you asked this because usually our salesperson will tells you this useful feature. You may download "AV Controller" App in your Playstore. With the app, you should be able to do this feature.

Thanks

Hi, please refer my answers. Wonder where did you made this purchase from?

Cheers!

Hi aeroplane,

3.1ch means you will need a AV Receiver.

1. All your sources can be connected with any models except for Turntable. So if you need Turntable to be hook up with AVR, you might need to consider only from RX-A830 onwards to RX-A3030. Meaning to say, RX-A830 / A1030 / A2030 / A3030.

2. All Network AV Receiver models are DLNA supported. Hence, NAS is never a issue so long as you are looking at those Network models. RX-A830 - A3030 are all Networked.

Video streaming to AVR is not possible for any brands in the market. But you could do this using your Network Blu-ray Player or Network TV.

3. Any AV Receiver can do this job between switching 2.1 or 3.1ch playback.

My recommendation is NS-F500 Floorstand Speaker + NS-C500 Center Speaker + Any AVR from RX-A830 onwards (Depend on your budget).

You may PM me your budget and we discuss more from there.

Cheers!

Would this set up need a subwoofer?

You can add a subwoofer or you can don't add. At the end of the day, the subwoofer helps in your movie experience. Some people might not need a subwoofer because they don't like to have too much bass and they prefer music just from their Floorstand speakers. So i won't say it's a must. Depends on your listening preference.

Hi Yamaha, Thanks for your reply. I have tried out all your suggestions and am happy for qns 2 and 3.

My bad on the wireless connectivity cos i'm a bit slow and retard on these control. so far have tried out with my G2 and its wonderful. Thanks

Qns 1 : I check my blu ray player and it only have coaxial cable connector and HDMI. i go ahead and connect it to my audio 2 but can't output to zone 2. Look like have to get a dedicate player for that?.

New qns : Using my LG G2 to connect via AV Controller, able to play only certain songs! all are same mp4 format but not sure why?

I bought the unit from one of the shop in Axxxxx center. bought Concept 20 together and i'm enger to check out connectivity of zone 2 issue thus forgotten about wireless side :D:D:D

Anyway thanks for enlightening and yamaha amp is good. Just a bit regret on your upcoming new series RX-A3040/2040 which have the Atom Dolby but 1030 do not have. Am i right?

Dear Yamaha,

we are several in the world to have a firmware issue due to Yamaha Network Connection not working with iphone or android Yamaha AV controller with some BD player (BD-S1067, BD A1000, BD 1010 at least)

We all have made plenty of tests and the problem is a firwmare problem on the BD player side. For each upgrade, it works prefectly until you need to remove the power supply : after that and each time, the BD player becomes unseeable by the controller app.

I had a recovery firmware from Yamaha Canada (thus I'm in France) for firmware 1.49 but i've already updated to 1.7712 so, as BD player only accepts "higher" firmware, this is useless.

It would be very keen to alert Yamaha HQ of this in order for them to provide us a final recovery firmware as i suppose that our products won't be updated anymore.

Thank you in advance

kind regards

Vortex

PS my RX-V2067 works perfectly well, including the controller app :d, and i'm very pleased of this good piece of hardware :)

If you need a CD playback to Zone 2, probably get another player to handle that will be better with Analog Audio output.

This should be the file issue. Try go higher resolution. Mp4 is very low quality. Maybe Spotify sounds a lot better and has more songs to listen.

Ah.. I see. Anson Audio i guessed. Because only Anson Audio carries Concept 20 and Yamaha. Dolby Atmos is something i think you won't realise it because you might need speakers above ceiling to do that. So i think it doesn't matter too much. How many setup is a 9.2 or 11.2 setup in singapore? I could say very few and not many. How will Dolby Atmos slowly developed into a acceptable format and into a 5.1 Ch system, nobody knows for now as it is not like a DTS-HD and a DTS difference which will have more resolution in sampling and bit rates and audible difference. So i don't think it will be a big missed for you.

Anyway still, hope you enjoy it.
Cheers! :)

Hi Yamaha,

I really enjoying the system especially weekends with my family.

Saw from one of your ans to forumers that any brand of NAS unable to be video steamed by AV Amp?

I connected every system to my asus router and 5 port switch via cable : Blu-ray, PS4, NAS, 1030, TV and wall plug. I can't access the movies I downloaded (MKV files) via server input as its shows no content. For TV, I understand it is the files problem. So is it true!

Can I steam the movies via media player (Neox mini) if I bought one?

Thanks for entertaining me thus far.

It is true no AVR can handle Video streaming. If you would need video streaming, you will need a video streaming capability products such as the Neox mini or Blu-ray player or Smart TV Built-in Video streaming features to do it.

Cheers!
