Hi YamahaSG, is SRT 1000 sold locally?
Hi,
For YSP-2200, possible to use a wired head phone for night use? I checked but couldn't figure it out.
If the above is not possible, can you recommend a Yamaha sound bar, Bluetooth or wireless, that can connect to a wired or wireless headphone in the range of 300-500?
Basically, I want to watch movies at night and doesn't want to disturb my family because of the noise.
Wharfedale DX-1HCP
which yamaha entry level AVR support 5.1, 4K passthru & andriod app ah ?
must prolly will be using Wharfedale DX-1HCP 4ohm.
Looking at the YSP-2500.
Got a series of questions here:
- Is there a wall mounting kit that comes along with the soundbar?
- If the mounting kit is not free, how much will it cost? And where can I buy it from?
- For the subwoofer, can it be connected thru wire to the soundbar? If it can, does it need external power then?
Hi,
Can I use YAMAHA NS-B500 speakers as my front speaker (left and right)?
Can I buy 4 units of YAMAHA NS-B500 and put them as 2 front and 2 rear speakers?
I plan to setup a 5.1 system with 4 NS- B500, 1 NS-C500 and 1 NS-SW500. Is this combination workable?
Thanks for the advice in advance
Hi,
Is workable.
Thank you.

Hello, I'm a bit of an audio noob here. I just bought the Yamaha YSP-1400 sound projector after being impressed by the sound quality and also the positive reviews on various websites. I know there's no HDMI connectivity on this model but there are 2 optical inputs (digital optical and digital coaxial). I read up on these 2 technologies and understand that there should be no difference in terms of sound quality over short distance.
So my question is that if I have a Blu-ray player (LG BP325) with a digital audio output (coaxial), can I hook up via this connection to the YSP-1400 on digital coaxial? It should refer to the same thing, am I right? And then for the blu-ray video signal, I can hook up the HDMI output from the Blu-ray player to the HDMI input of my TV? And then finally I can hook up my TV to the YSP-1400 using the digital optical port right?
Appreciate any advice pls. Thanx.
Hi Gary
If I buy these speakers from Tokyo (Japan), can they compatible with local Yamaha AVR (RX-V677)?
Thanks in advance![]()
Hi, if I only have 5.1 kef speakers system and using the rx-v800 yamaha avr, allocated a bedroom as a theatre room.
Looking to upgrade my avr. Which avr should I get?
I see that there are new avr supporting 9-11.2 channels.
But I suppose if the room is 4.3m by 2.9m, having more than 5 channels is actually under utilizing the system?
Thanks.
Hi Gary, the model u recommended is discontinued. But I suppose it's still available In the market?Hi,
You can consider on the RX-A730.
RX-A730 - AV Receivers/Amplifiers - Yamaha - Singapore
Yes, some of the AVR support 7-11.2 channels. They have this capabilities of doing that with addition of support zone speakers. I can have a 7.1 setup in my living area, Zone 2 & Zone 3, i can run another pairs of speaker, all using a same AVR. But of course, if you have the space area in 1 Zone, setting it up 7- 11.2 channels that will be good. More than 5 channels don't utilize the system. Is how you wanted the performance to be sound like. As in? will provide you the best sound and the most immersive experience.
Thank you.

This's my theatre room. I am going to watch all the shows in the room, so all speakers will be inside this room. So zone 2, 3 etc is actually more for music, rather than theatre?

I wan to get a good avr but the concern is as u can see my room is 4.3m by 2.9m, so I'm wondering what is the max no of speakers u should have.
Eg, when choosing the tv size, it must correlate to the viewing distance. So is there a rule of thumb for running how many channels. Else small room and too many speakers, the effect will not be optimized, n maybe becomes messy.
Or the trend now is 7.2 channel n more, so all the avr in the market are all at least 7.2 n above?
Thanks.
thanks for the detailed explanantion.Hi,
RX-A730 left with one new stock (although it is discontinued and replaced by RX-A740) with us in our showroom at a clearance price.
Correct, Zone 2/3 is more for background music instead of Home Theater.
In your setup image, i don't think you can have a 7ch setup. Instead, i think you need to spend some investment to make curtains to cover the glass reflection you have in your room. All those glass will create bright sound character and cause reverberations in the room. A 5.1ch setup is sufficient in your case. Not all AVR are 7.2ch, some entry-level models are still 5.1ch.
Having more surround speakers setup will gives you a better surround envelopment. But in your room size, i will still recommend you a 5.1ch setup.
Also, some basic understanding of AV Receivers as follow:
When choosing a AVR, output power to handle your speakers is important. Rather then focusing on the channels of the AVR it has or the features it can do, output power is important because a better output power will have the ability to drive speakers easily with all necessary dynamics of the sound output from your speakers at a low volume. If AVR does not have sufficient output power to handle your speakers, you will need to crank higher to be able to listen to the dialogues or dynamics of the movie experience.
Thus, one reason why some high end speakers need more power to drive is this above reason. Many will think having so high output power means to drive louder, that's a wrong misconception. If you use some entry-level 5.1 satellite speakers, those entry-level AVR is sufficient to do the job. But if you invested some decent speakers, a better output power can let you hear the difference.
Features of AVR are pretty similar currently in the market. Networking capabilities, HDMI features, Multi-Zone Support, Video Capabilities, Audio Capabilities. Latest new technology in town will be DOLBY ATMOS. Read more about DOLBY ATMOS here.
With your speakers, we will recommend you RX-V677 / RX-A730 or A740 / RX-A840 / RX-A1040.
if you want to be sure of the sound character you will achieve, i suggest you to bring down your Satellite KEF Speakers to our showroom and let Gary hook up the Front x 2 speakers and Centre x 1 Speaker for you to try it out.
Hope it helps.
Cheers!
