Just got the Asus RT-AX86U to replace Singtel default router. However when I tested the wi-fi speed, I don't see any significant improvement in the speed, in fact it seems to be little worst. It is still around 200 - 270Mbps for download and around 210Mbps for upload on a wi-fi 6 device.

If doing speedtest.net, don't test to Singtel server, it maxes out around 200+. Choose Viewqwest server. Try flashing to Merlin firmware, then check your wifi settings for 5ghz in the router under professional tab is mu mimo + ofdma.

Thanks for the advice! I turn on WiFi Agile Multiband and mimo + ofdma. Then choose ViewQuest server for testing. Able to get around 500 to 600+Mbps now.

My work laptop has the Intel Wireless AC-9560 which supports 2*2 AC 160MHz.
Speedtest result is amazing with RT-AX82U. SingTel 1Gbps plan, Viewquest SpeedTest server.

No need to worry. It is just a number and has absolutely no impact for your iPhone daily usage, even though your number is on the low side. You may test at a different time to see if you can get a better number.

Just did a quick comparison of the speedtest results between SingTel and Viewquest, tested with my Mac Mini M1 which is in the study room, 5m away from the RT-AX82U in the living room

To me more important is the coverage and not the speed.

This is the farthest end of my 4-room 106sqm HDB flat in the kitchen area where the washing machine is located (two walls in between the laptop and the router). You can see upload speed suffers, which means the router has no issue, but the device has issues transferring back. My previous routers have very weak 5GHz signal here so usually I will get weak 5GHz speed below 100Mbps or 2.4GHz speed below 50Mbps.

Haha, I do not see the differences myself between SingTel Mesh Router and Asus RT-AX82U for the quality of my SingTel TV box. But I use a cheap 40inch 1080p no brand TV.

I do lose a few features.
1) SingTel TV Go remote function
2) Stingray channels (I am a SingTel Circle member)

Another feature missing is Netflix if you have Netflix subscription.

That speed (307Mbps download and 325Mbps upload) is actually normal speed if you use a 2*2 AC mobile phone (max theoretical speed is 866 Mbps) although a bit on the lower side (good one should get 400Mbps+ on a 500Mbps plan). What is your Android mobile?

Still it does not really matter whether you get 300Mbps or 400Mbps in daily use cases for a mobile phone.

I will not be surprised if Redmi Note 8 only support 1*1 Wifi AC (max speed 433Mbps). And in that case what you get is pretty good.

I thought you were using RT-AX86U or RT-AX82U. So you are not using a wifi 6 router, which router are you using? And yes if you are using a PC with Wifi 6, then WiFi 6 router makes sense.
