Not quite, the MTK8125 is a Quadcore Cortex A7 based chipset by Mediatek
The MIC tabs most run a Rockchip based RK chipset that' is mased off of a dual core Cortex A9, with what I think maybe a more powerful GPU than the one in the MTK8125 however

However, if you are gonna use the tablet for playing games, reviews reported that the old Tegra-based Nexus 7 may perform better.
In my case, I'll mostly use it for videos and ebooks, so the stress on the processor is minimal....

The Quad Core Cortex A7 trades blows with the quad Cortex A9s very admirably in general, much less heat/power consumption for 15% less performance per clock speed at most if I remember right, so they're about almost on par with one another
The difference between the T3 and MTK8125 is the GPU.
The PowerVR SGX544 in the MTK8125 is an SGX544MP1, which means the GPU has 1 core (all of them are based off of some sort of ARM liscencing IIRC, just different output software implementations), compare that to the SoC in the last Nexus 7, which I remember right is a 4 core one (or was that 2? I don't remember)
The GPU in the Tegra 3 is about twice as powerful as the one in the HD7 (at least, in the above scenario if the clocks and the architecture for the GPUs are the same) if my info above is correct. Of course, we don't know how the GPUs are clocked so...
If you plan to play a lot of polygon based games (in general, 3D games), the HD7's SGX544MP1 would be less than ideal, but when it comes to games that utilize vector graphics and/or sprites, the HD7 will be of no problem
(FYI, the ASUS Fonepad uses the PowerVR SGX544 too, but it's the SGX544MP2, so it has 2 cores, and theoretically performs twice better in games that are not CPU bound compared to the HD7)
The CPU of the HD7 is more than enough to properly run everyday applications, like web browsing and such, without much of a hitch at all, unless the page is memory heavy :3
