Asus PADPHONE 2

Been using this gadget for approximately 10 days or so, previously using a Iphone 5. No regrets, good battery life.

But does anyone faces problem with the notification? Sometimes messages and whatsapp received but without any form of notification (Ie. sound/status bar icon)

I also have this problem. Notifications for whatapps will always auto off randomly. It's not often but it is irritating.

You have to go back to your volume control to turn on the sound for messages.

Facing this exact same problem too. Notification and sound settings are all on. Got to reboot in order to receive the notifications again.

I din enable the power saving thingy lei coz it juz doesn't seem to help much on da battery usage...

Are you using the Asus Task Manager widgets? If you kill off all the task and whatsapps or your messengers, there will be no notifications. It seem the program is closed.

I always lock the program in order to receive my notifications.

Cus i was testing out this 2in1 idea, but in the end it didnt work out out for me i guess... But i love the phone itself, the design is much better than S3, and i m a andriod user, so Iphone 5 is out of the qn.
Now my problem is i found the station is kind of redundant.

True, I prefer the design of padfone2 over s3 as well. Only problem is the lack of accessories unlike s3 where screen protectors and cases are selling everywhere.

the main selling point of PadFone is the ability to use a mobile phone, connect it to a larger panel and use it like a notebook.

However, since you are sacrificing mobility when you plug it in the dock, you should have the ability to use it in more ways than just a glorified battery pack with a larger screen. If it is the similar design as the original PadFone, that is to say, with another additional battery pack together with a physical keyboard, it would make a complete set...

I would like to stress this is only my point of view, open for discussion. I am not saying those who choose PadFone 2 bought a lemon or something like that, but just offering my frank opinion on the current design of the PadFone 2.

You mentioned notebook and physical keyboard, which is why padfone2 makes no sense to you. Basically, you're looking at the wrong product for your need.

For me, there is nothing wrong with padfone2's design as it fits my use perfectly. During the day, I bring it out as a phone. Once home, it's into the dock, and used as a tablet while I'm on my couch, bed or toilet. I don't need any physical keyboard, I have my notebook for that purpose.

I think the official padstation sleeve is quite nice. for the phone wise, i dun use cover for all the phone i buy. I buy it partly cus of the design of the phone too, if i use a cover, the design will some how covered, which is not what i want. I just be more careful wif my phone and dun drop it. and also make not much sense if u buy a cover for phone, when u going to dock it, u need to take the cover out.
Anyway, i just want to find out what u guys use the tablet for... I do not mean the idea of padfone is useless. Cus maybe there is alot of uses for it which i duno. I m looking for pple to enlighten me, not bringing up a heated discussion.

in any case, aside from the usual reasons why people get tablets (eg: comfort of reading, watching videos and browsing), here are some things that i found the padfone especially useful for:

1. taking a picture/video with the phone and instantly viewing it on the tablet. Especially when viewing it to a couple of friends. (this prevents you from holding up a chunky tablet, to use its camera)

2. I have all my content in one place. I can whatsapp from my tablet, my alarms are synced and I can continue reading/viewing videos where i left off from my phone. (yes, remember you did read 5 pages while you were on your phone?).

3. the station is actually rather heavy in my bag... (you mean you carry a standalone tablet with you in your bag?)

4. hey look at that heavy portable chargers with cables dangling... looks nifty

I plan to drop by challenger tomorrow to ask if they carry it...

no one really carrys pf2 acc.
i tried whole of funan for the cable to no avail.

That's YOUR idea of it's "main" selling point, but evidently not Asus'.

For all you know, to them it's a business phone, while the tablet end is for entertainment purposes. Besides, you should know how easy it is to add a BT keyboard for your preferred usage.

Frankly,I dun know what does it do. But before running the tool, when I am handwriting in supernote,my stroke always break into dots.After I ran the tool, no more break up stroke.

Ok now I know the real reason why you find the station useless. You weren't looking for a tablet in the first place! Basically you bought this phone without the intention of getting or using a tablet, which is why padfone2 didn't work out for you. As for what people use tablet for, it's just a matter of individual preference, really nothing much to enlighten.

use tablet main reason of course is for bigger screen when playing game or for watching video la, if you dont like bigger screen, then why buy padfone 2? it's just like why people buy ipad mah, just that we prefer android OS.

Haiz.. seems like gotta send it down. Cant seem to charge my padfone 2 and padfone station. No response. I've tried charging using another non Asus charger which I normally use also cant charge.
Anyone encountered such situation?

charger problem most likely? padstation will detect if it's an Asus charger, so no point using non asus charger

I'm using da Samsung charger for padfone 2 but da Asus charger for the station. Kiasu a bit coz wans da devices to be charged faster.I faced this prob previously but managed to resolve upon rebooting. Tried rebooting many times but failed. Somehow after I posted in the forum, hehehe managed to charge using the Asus charger to my padfone 2.

Hmmm... now contemplating whether to still go down or not.. considering it's a long festive weekend...
