The messaging app dun allow u to set custom tone?

Somehow it's sync to the default notification ringtone, which pretty much is used for everything else... I didn't mean a custom ringtone for every single contact, but something like sms notification uses ringtone A and notification for apps like when you turn on Asus Power Saver uses ringtone B, etc...

Yes they do.

Better call Starhub and clarify first. Last time i went, the CS said, it's only available for customers to purchase, who are buying the Padfone on the spot. They dun sell it as separate accessories. It's sort of like, purchase with purchase only.
Hope this helps...

Strange, i dun use pf2 but nearly every model i used the messaging settings allow u to choose an alternative to the default one used in the system settings. U checked the messaging settings for sure?

otherwise the other alternative is to install another sms app.

I bought the sleeve last week without any purchase of pf2 from vivo's starhub. And with discount somemore as reflected in the newspapers. Worse come to the worse, just bring along your pf2. The staff will assume you purchased the pf2 from starhub since it's starhub exclusive.

Under sound settings in pf2, there are 5 different sound settings for 5 different scenario including messaging, received mail, sent mail, calendar alerts & alarm. The default messaging app in pf2 has notification setting too. As kennyboy pointed out..

Yes, there are 5 different settings under the sound category, but the Setting>Sound>Notification>New Text and Messaging>Setting>Notifications>Choose ringtone are somehow synchronized. No matter what you choose on either one the same ringtone will be set for the other. I can't sure if I remember correctly, but before updating to Jelly Bean I'm pretty sure there is a separated options for "default notifications" and "new text notifications". If anyone is still on TW firmware ICS for PadFone 2, can you kindly check it out for me please? :s12:

If it's really like that then it's Asus cockup liao. :( But I don't recall having a separated options in the same area. It's always one in the main settings, one in the messaging settings.

If so, then short of installing an sms replacement, one lighter alternative that still retains the default sms app would be something like this.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.everythingandroid.smspopup

Do you have a screen protector on? I seem to have a similar issue. Its difficult to do either a long press or select text in web browsers on the pad station..

No screen protector applied. Wonder is hardware or firmware problem.

Edit: went to a shop @ Funan and the guy customised the sp for me at $12. Happy now!

I bought a ztoss sleeve from challenger for 25 bucks. Does a decent job and double as a stand as well. Will update with pics soon.
