SMS Backup problem

Does anyone have problems with backing up or restoring their SMS?

I had to factory reset my phone, which wiped my SMSes. Luckily, most of my messages were still on my old phone.

I tried to transfer my SMSes from my old phone (HTC Desire Z) to my Padfone 2 using a few apps, but none of them work properly. They either restore only some messages, or just crash. Restoring on my old phone works 100%, so I don't think it's a corrupted file problem.

Funny thing is, the app I was using worked perfectly when my Padfone 2 was running 4.0.4, before I updated to 4.1.1 (Starhub firmware both times).

Quite irritating.

Tried:
SMS Backup and Restore
SMS Backup+
GO SMS Pro
Titanium Backup (using their XML backup method)

By transleeve r u referring to the original sleeve that came with the pad earlier?

i went to the service centre to check earlier this week. its not available at the service centre. was asking for the phone casing as well, both were not available :(

I'm not going to use the phone until the flip cover is out. It fell out of my pocket 2x, which never happen to any other phones before. It's just too slippery.

I think I have the same problem but it should not be normal. I tried my phone docked on other demo padphone stations and they are ok. Might need to bring back to device centre

For those with padstation screen responsiveness issue, Asus quietly launched a screen calibration utility at the beginning of the month. I tried it and it solved my problems. So it's really a software issue after all.

from what i see, actually the official flip cover also doesnt protect the hp that well. the metal border parts are actually exposed.

hi guys.. i have a question to ask.. is there any significant diff between padfone 2 n s3? As i will be getting a 2nd hand padfone 2 n a current user of s3. I will like to know what are the flaws for padfone 2 if there is any. Hope that the kind bros here will be able to advise as I do not have the time to read up from page 1. Thanks. :)

If you compare with the samsung implemented features like the multi-window(android 4.1.2 update), all the S-apps. Then those are the advantage of the S3. (mainly all the samsung stuff).

But all the samsung stuff makes the phone bloated and laggy-er than the padfone2.

My dad & sis has the S3 so i can attest to that.

The padfone2 on the other hand ( extreme end), is very close to stock android, which some ppl may prefer ( like me).

Stock android may not be the taste for everybody.

But being stock, it is very fast (no lag), not bloated and will have updates faster than any other manufacturer (besides the nexus phones).

Asus has always been the fastest to push updates.

Hardware wise, the padfone2 has better CPU, better graphics, more RAM (compared to the non-LTE version of S3), better battery life, camera more pixels but i think end up same quality.

If your S3 is the 3G version, then the padfone2 has LTE advantage over it.

Then if you combine the station advantage, the S3 is nowhere insight.

More battery, no need to sign up extra data plan or multi-sim, your games or apps are the same, don need to have separate game level like those ppl who have the iphone & ipad ( not sure if they can sync with iCloud) .

Overall, i would say that the padfone2 is really lightning speed compared to the S3.
You should try a demo set or something first, then you will know what i mean.

I am using the latest WWE firmware btw, so can't judge for the default starhub firmware that you will get with the padfone2.
You can change to the WWE firmware anytime. No starhub craps inside.

For me I don't follow what others use, I choose my phone
based on my usage.
Since I'm looking at long battery time, good camera
and fast speed Asus padfone 2 did not disappoint.

I upgraded to Asus padfone 2 from Nokia N8 so far
I have nothing to complain.
Like what others have said, best is you go try it both
S3 and padfone 2 than decide which one suits you.

I had a s3 then note 2 then padrone 2 and back to note 2

I would like to comment on the Samsung stuff.. To be honest... I hated Samsung touch wiz before but since s3..it has improved leaps and bounds...

There is no lag experienced..

On the other hand... Padfone 2 is much better than Padfone 1but it's still lacking as compared to s3...

The new gimmicks on s3 are really good..
