my impression is that it is even faster after the update but the camera quality seems to have dipped. i could be wrong cos i never actively dug up features in the prime till now, but it seems with this update, there is an option to deactivate the touchpad from the screen and there is now wifi direct.

what a beauty the prime is; it almost makes my ipad look bashfully plain.

ok, three weeks of using, here's my review

1) Typing with keyboard often jump key, meaning cursor is at position 5, after typing few characters, it will jump to position 2 etc.. hence need to reposition the cursors. Not sure if this is due to the lag during data transfer. Can be frustrating when doing serious work

2) Prime occassionally reboot and error that task manager had ended (something like that)

3) Portable 2.5 inch hardisk with usb only could not be detected. Tumbdrive works fine though

4) Prime Not detected in xp. Probably need some driver installation

5) Difficult to find nice cover and screen protectors locally. Need to order online.

Other than these, the rest works pretty well

Yes I also experience rebooting quite often...and also typing on it quite difficult.

which do u prefer? never update?
Asus had been "leading" the Google update.
They are the 1st ICS (aside the China tablet)..and whenever, there is a newer update, v soon with available.
During their HC, they even beat Xoom of releasing 3.2 and other faster.

now, could they beat Xoom, Nexus on 4.0.4?

Prime is a 32G (S$759 - WIFI)
Ipad 3 32G (S$788- WIFI)

the newIpad 16G could be too small in size as retina display, apps are schedule to increase in size (3X) & more

sorry Im a noob in tablet but howsthe 16g potentially too small? like the installation size is bigger? usually for tablets, how big are the apps installation size? thanks for the quick reply btw..

Oh and which store sells the prime w/o dock? IIRC I saw one at Harvey Norman Novena but Im not too sure

Oh and theres the Ipad2 in the equation, they dropped considerably in price so Im more confused..To be honest, I dunno what to do with it..its for my wife but primarily its for our baby..for watching videos and all that educational stuff..as the iphone we currently use is just too small

Totally agree. Asus has been very hardworking in this. Thumbs up to the Taiwanese company. Im loving Taiwanese IT products lol, owning a HTC phone as well.

Btw the way the page tearing issue resolved and asus kb is more responsive now in this update too. Great!

I have both iPads and Android tablets. If it's for your baby, I would recommend the iPad over an Android tablet. The iPad operating system is much simpler to use and much easier for you to set up for your baby. There are also lots of educational apps. Try out for yourself at any large Challenger store.

The new iPad has a much better resolution screen, camera and faster graphics but these would likely not be important for your baby's use so you could save a bit by getting the iPad2 which is also lighter and easier to handle by small hands.

The Apple Store has refurbished 16GB iPad2 Wifi for only $458 (sometimes OOS so u may need to check now and then) - i think it's a really great price for such a quality tablet. They also have the old iPad1 but i think the prices are too high ($398 for 16GB) - better to top-up $60 for the dual-cpu, cameras, thinner n lighter body etc

ipad2..easier for non techy.
refurbished 16G (wifi) is at S$450++(which often sold out)
else, refurbished ipad at S$398 (16G Wifi)

jailbreak it and open the world of educational apps to your baby.
This part, android loses out greatly....(android to not have such massive amount for kiddies/babies)

thank you so much for your replies

Actually I searched for the Transformer Prime but couldnt find a store that has them on stock..Then we happened to pass by epicentre in ION and looked at the ipad 3 out of curiosity..Having been frustrated not finding the Transformer, we bought the ipad3 instead.Ipad 2 was oos and the only available wifi version was 16Gb so we got that model

It was a hard decision for me being an anti-mac guy..but well the display won me over..At least your replies made me a little less guilty going over to the apple side
