hey guys, I think this laptop is great and I wanna buy, but just dislike the weak hinge. Anybody has problems with it or broke it?

Just got mine a day ago. So far very pleased with it. BUT. It gets kinda hot around the top of the keyboard..and the laptop feels fragile, i try to hold it softer :s13:. If encounter any problem/issue will update here

What do you say it is weak?

well i just opened close it and it felt so weak compared to macbook or lenovo yoga 900. Those are really sturdy, like they wont break no matter what.

But this asus 305 feels like it will break after 100 times of opening and closing it. What good is buying a laptop which all these good specs if it break so easily lol

since mcafee is free just use..

Others like FOXIT PDF, WPS office, all can remove. just go to control panel--> uninstall programs to remove.

Thanks for the reply but I read online like mcafee use up a lot of processing ram and given that I am using the base model which only has 4gb ram... should I swap mcafee with other anti virus such as avast! or AVG? Any suggestions? :s13:

Oh and you seem to know a lot about this. Any insight on whether I should remove all 4 of the cyberlink programs? Namely the Powerdirector, cyberlink powerdirector 12, photodirector and cyberlink photodirector 5. I googled it and they are like video/photo editing stuff but I don't use them anyway. Would it be wise to uninstall them? Anyone here have any experience with this?

Damned good price! I should also get this one for my office.

Haha! I am still thinking if maybe last day can get cheaper or not... your statement made me feel better :s13::s12:

On topic: It is really light and suitable JUST for work purposes but I tried to play some games like torchlight 2 on it and it ran okay. Should be able to handle low specs game. Still looking for more titles if anyone knows any can pm me? ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S: Another question for the thread, anyone knows how to register the warranty for this laptop? I already register the product on ASUS website already (key in serial no, etc...) Is that it? So in the event the laptop needs the warranty, how do I go about doing it?

Thanks

About Asus warranty part, I am not sure if it is the same. I just bought a Asus router as well, keyed in to the Asus website but cannot activate the Service Package (which I suppose it is warranty) coz I cannot find the "Contract Code". So I called Asus just now, the guy said only need to keey proof of purchase.

I just dumped every piece of software that I don't need. Waste of space.

Skylake. 6th Gen Intel Processor = Skylake.
And based on the Specs, should be the same one I bought... ASUS UX305UA-FC013T

yeah, planning to buy from best denki, they got a couple of free gifts. But I thought i5-6200U comes with intel graphics 520, asus just swaps it out for 5500?

You're not the first one to ask for this... unfortunately I think it's the design of the card reader. It makes the card protrude out to make it easier to retrieve the card when you are done. So whether you use the SD card or a adapter for a mSD card, it will have the same protrusion issue.

Yes you're right! I checked and it is 520. Btw anyone knows where to get the screen protector?

I thought you didn't like the laptop, saying it was weakly constructed?

Actually it's one of the better constructions around... no flex, no creaks, and strong. For its weight, the build quality is top-notch. Just because the Lenovo and MacBook are heavier, they feel like better built. But in actual fact, they are the same quality.

I'm talking about the hinge man. It is looser compared to the MacBook or the Lenovo 900 I tried. But putting that aside, do u know where to get the screen protector?

I thinking of getting this laptop but I wish to get some feedback of the hinge. Does the hinge hold up for you?

When I try out the laptop at some of the store, the hinge seem to be a bit loose and will move itself by a bit. When opened, the lid cover will elevate the keyboard abit which made me wonder does it matter if i place the laptop on an uneven ground?
