I say "critical" bug !! Usually if it is not critical, manufacturer will group a few till a major release. 4 days with 3 release means code quality is not there. Not enough user acceptance test !!

the latest update was released a few days after the last one to fix the Stagefright virus. this is way more responsive than the big names so i prefer more rather than less update. :)

Hi bros pls advise. Just broke my note 3. Thinking to get zenfone 2 551 (64gb) model at Singtel as they seem to be the exclusive sellers at $499? Worth it? Not going to use the default ui but flashing it to be as close to pure android as possible. Unable to wait for the new pure android/nexus phones coming out.

If you feel like saving some $, try getting it from 3rd party dealers. They get it from Singtel exclusive retailers anyway LOL. Think street price is around $450?

If you want to save more $, can buy from qoo10. Combine with coupons can save $20 more....

hey, if u can tolerate just 32GB, i'll sell you mine (only 2 weeks used, near mint, no damage, in case and tempered screen prot since day 1).

only received and started use on 7 august 2015 if i recall

has asus local warranty, about 11 mths 2 weeks left? works fine as far as i have tested, this i promise, no issues at all (except my m1 call issue). it actually works amazing, but at the end of the day i need a phone that can call out with my m1 line

you can test on the spot before you decide to buy

bought for 385, i'll sell u for $340, including my $20 flip cover and $10 tempered glass screen prot for free. original box and accessories, as well as receipt for purchase, are all included.

as long as you're not on m1 like me, calling shouldn't be a problem

you can then use your extra cash and grab a 128GB microsd card (can migrate your data more easily in the future), and still have some left over for a huge thumbdrive or two if you wish

This phone's default os supports install-to-SD btw, so there's realy no diff between internal and expandable

Bought my ZE551ML 4GB/64GB from singtel on 7th august, combo 2 recontract, $198(with $100 trade-in) only paid $98.

Previous phone: xiaomi redmi note 3g.

As compared to previous phone,

Pros:

1) faster & smoother in terms of switching between apps, smoother scrolling for eg. Twitter, facebook. News feed too much pics redmi note 3g will spike whereas zenfone 2 scrolls smoothly.

2) 4g > 3g self explainatory.

3) love the zen motion double tap feature to wake/sleep phone. Currently iirc only zenfone 2 & lg g3/g4 has this feature. Convenient feature which every smartphone should have imo.

Cons:

1) very fast drain of battery when in use. My usage on both phones are the same. Just text messaging/calls, whatsapp, twitter instagram, facebook, kakaotalk etc and various other SNS platform apps. 0 games, occasional music playback.

As compared to redmi note(which is one of the best battery usage phones out there imo.)

Although previously i read on this thread, some bros here have mentioned the battery drain isnt that bad on the lower end versions of zenfone 2, for eg. The 5.0" 720p display variant instead of the 5.5" 1080p ZE551ML.

2) led notification indicator can only flash green(lime). Previously redmi note 3g can set different color led notification which imo is an useful feature. For eg. Red for missed calls, white for messaging, blue for app push notifications etc and so on. On zenfone 2 it is just green. So everytime gotta double tap screen to wake to see what notification is it.

3) quite poor design with the power button on top(although hardly used due to the double tap zen motion feature), the zenfone 2 built quality is quite poor(edges not smoothened. Yes, it is not one of the TOTL smartphones out there but still the built quality is really too poor.)

4) the bottom edge of screen is quite near the 3 utility buttons(back, home & recent app drawer touches). Often when i type, an action to tap on the spacebar of my keyboard sometimes ended up pressing on the home touch button instead. Could be user problem if not many face this issue.

5) phone comes pre-loaded with loads and loads of asus bloatware :s22:

Spent dont know how much time just to trial & error to disable and uninstall/remove unnecessary apps etc.

Just my 2 cents review on the phone after using it for 1 week+

i have no problem with mine so i can recommend the 32GB. good value for money as can find below $400. You will hear others with problems on their sets. I think 64GB model is not worth it. can get a big uSD card for cheaper.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. Just went Samsung and they want $30+ just to take in my n3 and do a check and the estimated costs are: lcd is $250+ and mobo is $350+ like wtf. Worse than Sony who at least take in to check for free. I apologize to all the Sony Z3 fanboys :p

In the end bought zf2 551 at $499 at Singtel, reason being I want to avoid CN imitation products. I've seen really good replicas of Samsung products so am wary of those cheap resellers on qoo10 etc. It feels fast from the get go, so I guess I have been using a damaged n3 for some time. Gonna play around with the zenui for a bit and then maybe custom rom it and will report back here.

Thanks again for all the feedback guys.
