One primary reason that quick charge seems to be slow on Zenfone 2 is that the battery capacity is 3000mAh. It takes longer to charge given the QC 2.0 charging current is same for all smartphones.

And indeed, the phone will get hot during quick charge. I am reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S6 and you wouldn't want to touch the phone when it's charging, unless you needed some warmth in a freezing air con environment :).

Think Anker will depend on which "version". Took a few measurement, find jusb voltage output is around 5.0 to 5.1v. Samsung charger consistently output in range of 5.15 to 5.3v and able to reach 2A without problem.
U mean need to use those single quick charge adapters, right?

The anker 5/6 port one doesn't even detect the phone and just charges at 1000mA flow

Not true, base on Samsung Note 4. Quick charge is 80 or 90% in 1 hour. Same for s6. has friend using it. It can be charged in about 1 hour using the fast charger shipped with the phone.

Nope. Disabled apps get renamed to .bak

Have to enable again for it to work again

so i can just root and when new update come, i can do OTA update without affecting anything?

my disabled apps will still remain disabled?

only reason why i am not rooting is because it will be quite troublesome.

Am using the ZE551ML 4GB/64GB version zenfone2. Would like to check with fellow users, when u guys use the fast charging adapter provided by asus, is it normal for the phone to be so hot?? Feel like about 75-80 degrees. Previously was using xuaomi redmi note, even when charging using a 5V=2A charger, there was no heat at all.

I dont think it will reach 75-80. The processor inside could be, but not the case.:s13:

Read the steps carefully. Takes 2 minutes to root.

Hi,

Firmware 2.20.40.58 resolve many bugs and other issues, thus, worth upgrading asap.

Like you, I did not receive this upgrade notification OTA on my 1 day old ZE2 and thus, I manually install it by going to the link below, very simple step like how your clear system cache but you need to have a SD card.

Anyone used the anker 5/6 port charger to charge? Seems quite slow

I inititally thought the Anker PowerIQ technology can charge like the QC2.0 that Samsung offers.

But i was wrong. It charges the same as a normal charger. :s8:

I pluck in and out with the Anker side by side a normal wall socket adapter and there's no difference in the charging time.

For QC2.0 u can see a "+" logo about 5seconds after plugging in. that's truly fast and the real deal.

i've upgraded my 551ml to .58.

Battery issue:
Before i upgraded, i noticed there was a battery life issue where certain apps, once opened, stay running in the background and keep the phone in an "awake" state (i.e. in settings>battery>view details) even when the phone was locked and the screen was off. it didn't really bug me much though because the drain was still manageable. Some of these apps were Mangarock, Facebook, 9gag, Sgag, etc. in other words, once i've opened any of these apps, the "awake" bar will basically be solid from then on regardless of the phone being locked and screen shut off for hours.

To fully manage them keeping the phone awake, I had to manually remember which apps i opened, then go to their app info and force stop after i'm done using them. A simple exit (e.g. back>back>back>back etc., or selecting the explicit exit option in the app itself) never worked

This would cost my phone around 3% an hour, and my phone could not be charged by a normal wall charger (i.e. 5v 2A) at all; it would actually drain power even if it was plugged in overnight

After the upgrade ytd, i noticed that the battery screen is finally displaying the "awake" portion as "off" at the timings when i lock my phone. I had purposely opened and exited all the above apps somemore (without force stopping them)

all in all, good upgrade. many of you may find that the battery life issues you were facing will be fixed, i'm guessing.

Hello folks, need some advice here.

Including all qoo10 points and voucher, the price of ze551ml will be reduced to $323. Is this a good price? I forgot to check out the price in electronic fair few weeks ago.

Thanks!

If it is LOCAL set and ze551ml/4gb, then it's a good price. However, how many q points are you using? Cos if you are using 1000 points then the BEST price should be lower...
