im sorry, has the government's Utopian mindset gotten into you? do you HONESTLY think that singapore's 3g saf can defend itself? please la. grow a brain before you call people an idiot. when you're outnumbered 10 to 1, you think technology can help? please please please, don't make me laugh at your naivety.
perhaps you're a glorified officer brainwashed into thinking your services were rendered for a great cause? or maybe you're a spy for the regulars just being sore that your near future is pretty sad in such an organisation. if a 1wo blatantly puts down an ingenious suggestion by pte due to his rank then i really wonder what the higher ranks are doing. oh yes, im a clerk looking at the backbone of the saf and im laughing at the thought of this "army" fighting a war. imho, any organisation with an absolute rank hierarchy, simply has no future. btw, regulars who didnt even complete sec 4. u trust them to lead the army? I ROFL at your stupidity.
btw, are you able to call a 1 room flat shared by 6 people home? wake up your idea please. alot of true blue singaporeans don't have something i would dare call home.
edit: i'm not afraid to admit that my 2 years were wasted. i believe alot of other service side nsfs also qualify. i believe i would have contributed more to the economy if i was allowed to complete my degreeS first. i am still puzzled why women from ite cant be conscripted to do this. fyi, im not being elitist, simply pragmatic.
peace. just my 2 cents. i dont want to offend someone with nothing up there.
lol, ur arguments......
1. Outnumbered 1 to 10? We are not exactly comparing population size in a war.
Hmmm, which modern war is actually fought by 2 opposing armies in an open battlefield?? Even in ancient warfare, the battalions of the roman armies win easily against Guals that outnumber them many times. All because Romans have formations and advanced weaponry while the gauls do not.
By the way, the size of our arm counting NSmen is actually greater than our neighboring armies ( yes, u can go into the crap about how lousy NSmen actually are etc, yea, precisely b/c of pple like you lor)
It's not about naivety but an understanding of how modern warfare works. If you truly know nothing, concede your point and move on..
I have my reason for calling u an idiot b/c u talk without evidence, without proof, with reason.
2. I am not an officer. So there goes your entire line of argument for paragraph 2. Besides, your so called regular without proper education isn't really proper. These folks typically become specs or WO. In these folks what's more impt is not your grandiose ideas of planning covert operations or a D day operation but to simply lead the pack of 6 or 7 men into a mission proper. And why not trust them? I've seen many folks who are schooled to a degree but not educated but seen great leadership and common sense in those with ITE, O level pass. You are defined by your actions, your thoughts ( even what you say online) and not what your education level is.
3. Wat's the part about home? you mean ur bunk is small is it? Erm. Ok.
4. Lastly, i can empathize with you. As a clerk no wonder u felt let down. It's certainly boring. No wonder u are so angry. The thing is, i've a clerk who manage to resit his O level and got into a poly when he was serving.... Similar to you, he said that his 2 years was a waste until i pointed out to him that if he didn't enlisted, maybe he wouldn't have done well in his O levels to get into a poly.
I really think it's down to the individual to feel about his 2 years. For you, u are bitter and u resent it and u are just what you are...an idiot.
( i might be totally wrong, but i can totally profiled your type. Junior college educated, parents probably earning decently. Think he's very smart to get into Uni and why is this stupid government disrupting my all too impt studies + some more ordered by those stupid enjick who didn't even have a complete O level cert. My advice to you boy....u haven't seen the world yet. good luck to you. )
