AX router recommendations?

My contract with ST is expiring soon and planning to switch to SH 1Gbps plan and get 2 Asus AX55 router from carousell at around $100 each, will be setting the routers up as mesh and wired backhaul. (not sure if my plan will work)

main router will be in the living room, secondary will be either at datapoint A or B

im a very basic user, just want to ensure there is good wifi strength and speed around the house, wont be playing much with advanced settings.

will this setup be adequate?

do you have any ax devices ? if not , no need AX routers.
heck even if you do, do you think you (or your family) will max out the bandwidth that it offers? good ac routers can do 500-800mbps comfortably. A 4k UHD stream is at most 20mbps. how many simultaneous stream will happen at same time?

if you basic user just wan a cheap Ac mesh, then go carousell get used 868L (10-15$) then hack it into ac66u . If not technically inclined then there are people on that platform selling pre-hacked routers.

Currently I'm using the asus rt ac1200g router for a while now n after the last update, i notice a 100mbps drop in lan. B4 is 900+mbps. N using wifi in the kitchen will drop 1 2 bar. Aft some research, it shows that this model is at the end of life n no further updates is available. The site recommend switch to RT-AX53U. Shud i stick to that or buy something better? Most of my connections are wired(tv, tv box n ps5). Thanks...

unless you have ax devices, and can utilize the bandwidth , there is no need for AX.
ac1200 is considered low end , so its chipset and internals are abit meh. Its not because ac so its lousy, its just this particular isp freebie one.

Any decent AC router can do the job.

Main + Point B seems to be the best setup if you only have 1 data point. Provided your bedroom room doors don't kill the wifi signal too much. For me, I will just put data point in every room and worry about placement later. Study room may or may not have great signal from the main router. You may wish to go for 1 high + 1 low end model combo instead if budget allows

There is no point buying RT-AX53U as you can the better Asus RT-AX55 is cheaper from Carousell (BNIB at around S$80).

Will take note of the model. Thanks... The ax53u is the model the site recommend to replace the rt ac1200g. If ax55 is the newer or upgraded version, i research the latest model.

Go carousell, low ball sellers and get ax55 x 2 ( aimesh ).

U can get a set of used Zenwifi CT8 (Triband Wifi 5) or Nighthawk MK62 (dual band wifi 6) from Carousell based on your budget. Most of them are still covered by factory warranty for a few more months. My vote will go to CT8 if u need USB attached drive to be accessible via the network. And U might need to manually link devices to each node in the admin console as devices latches on to nodes, even when moved around the flat. Else, MK62 or MK63 are pretty good and underrated, uses the same broadcom chipset as the Ax55 (if I remember correct).

Some believe that for mesh, u'll have to go tri-band (having the 2nd 5Ghz band as dedicated wireless backhaul), but my experience with the Mk62 proves otherwise.

I recently sign-up online with M1 1Gbps which does comes with free TP-Link AX72 AX5400 and use my existing TP-Link EC330-G5u which have an option to setup as wifi range extender, then my brother pass me another 2 Linksys router which is EA7500v2 and EA8500, which have the option to setup as wifi repeater.

Even with AX72 alone on living hall, i have tested at my furthest master bedroom with door closed, will get full bar on my mobile phone. But with EC330-G5u, it is at most 3 bars, sometimes even can't surf website. I have not tried with EA7500vs and EA8500.

So, my planning is to choose either one of the 3 routers (EC330-G5u, EA7500v2, EA8500), place it on my working room to have 4x direct ethernet connection to my desktop, tv, laptop and gaming console.

Asus RT-AX56U or RT-AX58U.

RT-AC86U is also okay if you do not have important Wifi 6 devices. It is still a good router and the CPU is better than RT-AX56U/58U/82U and Zenwifi XT8. This is for example that your desktops/laptops are using wired connection.

Question: if the ONT is in the DB box (left wall of main door), can I simply plug a cheap TPlink AX72 with the ONT so that all wall sockets in the house have access to wired connections and then at Bedroom 3 (study room, half-hacked glass wall facing living rm) I place the GT AX6000 to act as my main router covering the entire house.

Is this an optimal plan? Any improvement suggestions? Thank you.

Firstly, if you place the tp link router at the db box, the gt ax6000 will need to be set as an access point which means some features will be unavailable. Secondly, with just a single router at br3, there's a decent chance that main br wifi signal will be less than satisfactory.
