To me, Bangkok is just like Singapore.

Just see where u wanted to go and use Google map for direction. Most places are reachable by BTS/MRT/Bus.

It's just a matter of getting use to their transportation system.

Zoom in closer to the bts for hotel that are located nearer to the station. Then go hotel website like Agoda or Expedia to check for review and probably cheaper price.

You know you can do something like this in GMap?

I search for Asoke BTS, then search nearby hotels. All the prices will pop up, then you can choose one you like (say nearest to BTS), then you go read review and see for yourself if it's good enough for you.

Personally, I don't like to spend on hotel. So I will book anything from 40-70/80 per night. Averaging around 50-60. That's my price range. Doesn't matter 1 or 2 people since it's per room pricing. Some place include BF, some don't. But doesn't really matter since you can just walk out in the morning to grab BF literally anywhere, even their 7-11 got a lot of choice. Cause you are basically paying for BF if they have the BF option. e.g w/o BF price per night is 50, w/ BF per night is 53.

You can stay near Asoke, Nana, etc. Just take a look at GMap, and you can find the BTS nearby Pratunam if you still want to stay nearby.

Yeah. Personally don't like Expedia, Agoda is ok. Booking or Hotels.com also ok for me.

Use shopback for more discount, but do check first. If you login through shopback to Agoda, the price may be a few dollars higher than if you don't go through shopback. So if you book direct in Agoda, you already get the "cashback".

hold on guys, i am confused over this staying near bts thingy.

i just tested in google map for directions from Chidlom bts to Grand palace (for example) and nothing pops up? it either goes to bus, ferry, walk or fastest by grab. then if staying near BTS but no skytrain to those attractions, then whats the point of staying near bts? take bus or grab?

please enlighten me as this my first time to bangkok...

If you chose public transportation for Chitlom BTS to Grand Palace in Google Map, several bus routes show up. But one of the routes in the list is multi-mode:
1) BTS Chitlom
2) BTS Siam (transfer)
3) BTS Saphan Taksin
4) Sathorn Pier (river taxi pier)
5) Tha Tien (pier for Wat Po and Palace)

This route takes maybe an hour, not very different from the bus routes in the best traffic conditions.

If you want to be at the safest mode, do take a grab or taxi to grand palace ...
Should be about 100b+

Stayed at silom area before, taken metered taxi:
Hotel to siam paragon 53b
Hotel to mbk 60b
Hotel to grand palace or wat pho 106b
Morning 10+am

Flowerpalm I suggest you just use google and you will get all the details you need rather then we give you different suggestion and get yourself confuse. Bangkok is really very easy to travel with most attraction nearby train station

hi everyone, good afternoon

After another round of thinking, i have decided to reject Pratunam to base hotel in. Why? Mainly 2 reasons:

1. My primary objective is not shopping , not a shopping fan
2. Chidlom BTS is kinda far from Pratunam area

So last night i booked this particular hotel in Agoda nearest to Asok BTS:
Galleria 10 Sukhumvit by Compass hospitality. the link is here maybe you can help me take a look?
https://www.agoda.com/galleria-10-s...84b28102&travellerType=0&filterBenefits=78322

this is the only hotel that fits budget of not more than $80/night
including breakfast is $77/night for a deluxe chill room the cheapest 1.

however, there is tax of about $50+ to the final cost which ends up to be SGD $360 for 4 nights! omg..do note i have not paid as i chose the option for free cancellation and book now, pay later (by 9 feb)

my plan is actually to budget $1000
$300 (thai airway return - good times)
200~ for hotel but seems hotel is ex now
$500 for expenses

now if i choose the above hotel still, i have to push my budget to $1.2k
$300 (thai airway return - good times)
360~ for hotel but seems hotel is ex now
$500 for expenses

in view of the above, if the price is not worth to book this hotel, maybe you can suggest me other cheaper/better hotels near Asok BTS or change location to Pratunam? Also, do bangkok hotels charge deposit fee upon check in?

I received the email from agoda for confirmatiom, why they show charges in eur instead of sgd?

Asoke/sukhumvit hotel can try fusion suite across the road from healthland spa. It’s gonna be cheaper then galleria 10. But take note room has no windows unless you take bigger rooms.

Thai airways at $300??? What dates are you going usually should range around $238 - $268 unless you going on peak period.

You can use agoda or expedia, or other ota websites.
Based on the price and the location, together with the reviews on tripAdvisor, agoda, expedia, etc. You can make a decision from there ...
You would know best what is your budget, based on the map shown, you can decide if the hotel is within your acceptable walking distance from bts or mall ...

If you really want to save more, you might want to look at Red Planet Bangkok Asoke, is cheaper even though the room is slightly small, but all you need is a place for you to rest right. Also take note hor even though you put pay later, hotel might charge you before the said date.

Gosh i am lost

No need to feel lost. You already know where you wanna go. So now is to plan your route. If the place that you wanna go is near to the bts or mrt, just take bts or mrt. If not just grab from your hotel to the place.

Gosh i am lost

Just do it step by step.
1st look for hotel, since pratunam is out, just focus on asok.
2nd, list out where you want to go, example grand palace- attire to take note.
CTC only open on weekend etc....
3rd, transport to the attraction.

Most of the attractions beside temple, are location near to BTS. So you can main focus on BTS. Example, buy rabbit card (same as ezlink)
Lastly, sim card.

PS: I'm going Bkk on end Feb, still havnt book hotel yet :s13:

1. Chatuchak weekend market (sat and sun) Take bts to mo chit station cross the bridge walk about 10mins to reach or after crossing the bridge, walk to mrt station take to Kamphaeng Phet station (only 1 station), after exit you are in Chatuchak weekend market.
2. Or Tor Kor market, from Kamphaeng Phet station walk thru the other side, there is a sign at the station.
3. Union mall, if you not tried. Take mrt to Phahon Yothin station, shopping.
4. Grand Palace (temple), take taxi/grab, opening hour Daily 08:30 - 15:30 ticket 500 baht
5. Wat Pho (temple), beside grand palace, Daily 08:00 - 17:00 ticket 100 baht.
6. Chinatown, take taxi/grab near to wat pho.
7. Siam Square, bts Siam, lot of restaurants and café, hello kitty café, dessert café (mango tango).

These are my way of planning, hope can help you.
