Need guidance on hotel now...single room will do

U can go to agoda or expedia to check, both prices r competitive ...
would be hard to find single room, most of the hotels are usually room for two ... if budget is a issue, you can find 40+ hotels in pratunam area. limited choice.

Price is high for arnoma..are there alternatives? I just need a single bed room in hotel pratunam

You can look at national stadium area, near bts, walking distance to pratunam. There are many budget hotels in that area.

Check the hotel map, before you book. Some hotels is too far away from bts.

If i base hotel in pratunam right, then i walk to nearest bts Chitlom(?) To tak e traingo to grand palace, temple attractions etc is it convenient? My budget for hotel is $300+/- for 5d4n including breakfast

Shopping to me is ok lah i can buy some shirts, local food/souvenirs etc. Find places to eat for lunch and dinner. But i also want to visit attractions and take nice pictures. Is pratunam also suitable to base in if you also want to go visit those temples?

It depends on which attractions you wanna go. Best is to look for in the net first then decide on which area is best for you. :)

Take a look at the map, you will understand more on location of pratunam. There are 2 bts stations near pratunam, Chitlom station nearest and Ratchathewi. There is also a airport express station Ratchaprorarop in pratunam, you can take from airport to pratunam.

Grand palace, Wat Pho and Chinatown, you need to take bts change to boat. It's easier to take cab. There are still many attractions along BTS line, check tripadvisor.

Get a handle on your hotel location, BTS/MRT stations and the attractions relative to each other using Google Map.

There are no BTS/MRT stations within reasonable walking distance of the Grand Palace, Wat Po and Wat Arun. Usually I'll use the river taxi at the pier adjacent to BTS Saphan Taksin. The ferry route is also marked on Google Maps.

Pratunam is the best choice for first timer. If you wanna go to anywhere just grab. But try to stay near to bts as advisable not to take grab/ taxi after like 4 or 5pm, will start to jam.

Go to agoda or expedia site to check it out. Search hotel near bts station then check the walking distance from your hotel to bts. The grab what I meant is the grab car app. Its also available in Thailand. :)

Depend on your Budget and what you are looking for.

Actually Bangkok transportation is very convenient so it's also OK if you are not staying in Pratunam as Hotel in other area will be cheaper.

Given what ts want. I don't think the best place to stay is in pratunam.

Staying in pratunam is for people that wants to go down shopping, buy thing, go back put then head out again. Rinse and repeat.

If ts wants to head out most of the time, out as in going to other places, then stay somewhere with lighter traffic or right beside bts might be a better option. And can find cheaper hotel compared to pratunam area I guess.

Last time I used to stay just beside Nana bts. Less than a minute walk from hotel. Go where also easy.

Unless I understand ts wrongly, and ts want to stay most of his/her time within pratunam.

Totally agree. TS already listed the attractions he wanted to visit, most of which are easily accessible by the river taxi. So long as both the river taxi and the BTS/MRT are accessible, the location fits the bill. He can even stay on the Thonburi side of the river if he wants a quieter place.

What I've done before was to stay near Saphan Taksin for 2 nights to visit the river sights. Then I moved to a hotel at Nana/Sukhumvit subsequently just so that I can be nearer the nightlife and malls. Very flexible if TS is traveling alone.

Agree, but I prefer national stadium, a lot of budget hotel in that area too. Not too far to go pratunam.
