side track abit, can ask if anyone here book b4 jetstar? understand that their cheapest price is the 7KG carry on luggage only. no check in luggage

anyone take it before? like that if you still roll luggage right, how to know if it exceed 7kg or not? or is it safer to pay more for the air ticket to get higher weight luggage? what if your luggage dont fit the plane storage above ur head?

Booked many times, flew with them quite often ...
When flying with budget airline, would usually weigh my luggage before going to the airport ... If you have more than one pax in the same booking, you can combine the weight ...

There would be staff at the immigration area, who will randomly pick your baggage and weigh. If your hand carry is above 7kg, they would bring you to the airline counter to pay the $60 (in jetstar case, for 15kg checked in)

Passengers flying on economy class are permitted to bring 7kg of baggage onboard. This maximum weight limit of 7kg applies to the combination of one main luggage no larger than 56cm height x 36cm width x 23cm dimension, along with a smaller item.

No need to buy unless you're traveling to far countries.

Later flight delay, luggage damaged, food poisoning ...
claim yourself already ...

buy in case ... you wouldnt know if your baggage would be damaged ... Claimed before from Jetstar, they refused to let us claim for our baggage handle damaged. The handle was spoilt, cant be used anymore. Their cso said, you can still use ... Luckily bought travel insurance.

Flew with silkair before... Wheel were missing when we collected our baggage from the conveyor belt ... Silkair cso said their claim policy doesn't cover anything that is attached to the baggage. Hence they rejected our claim. Luckily we claimed from travel insurance ...

Normally if you claim from airline, especially budget airline, they would always ask u to claim from your travel insurance ...

Huh no weighing machine how to know...
I am thinking of either taking Jetstar or Scoot to Densapar in July though

But then again if you exceed to like 10kg or 15kg and have to pay extra, then whats the diff between paying more for weight compare to taking full fledge airline? The price will be around the same alrdy isnt it plus full fledge airline you can check in luggage ? Enlighten me if i am wrong

This is quite a bad advise I would say as travel insurance the basic tier costing around or less then $30. No scare one million is scared of million one :o

That is your responsibility to ensure that you hand carry does not exceed 7kg.
You can purchase a luggage weighing scale about few dollars online.
There are also weighing machine there for you to weigh you handcarry.

If you know your hand carry would be above 7kg you can add on checked in baggage when purchasing your ticket on their respective websites.
If you don't checked in your baggage and your handcarry exceeds 7kg.
Then you are left with no choice but pay the $60 if they have randomly chosen to weigh your hand carry.

Wah then those kanna check and exceed 7kg, suay loh. Not only need to pay more, somemore still have to carry onboard. Might as well take full fledge.

But i think if ur luggage is small, few plece clothes and only buy little bit thing, shld be ok bah at most hit max 10kg?

Jetstar after 7kg the next price is 10kg limit. Guess you have to weigh the cost between paying less for 7kg and full

20inch hardcover luggage alone is already about 2.6kg to 3kg on average
If u want to add on 3kg hnadcarry to become 10kg
You have to add on to your booking online
However the price might be not worth unless you really need to hand carry those items
The price of adding 15kg checked in luggage is more worth ...

If you reach the airport there is no way for you to add to 10kg
Either you pay your $60 to check in 15kg.
Or they would keep your boarding pass until you have paid

For your information.
Jetstar weighs your luggage and bags...

They would ask u to put your luggage together with your sling bag or whatever bags
you are carrying. Then they would weigh your luggage.

The total must be below 7kg.

Have seen people bringing a DSLR camera bag with the camera inside , the staff told him to weigh together with the luggage ... Even if u are holding on to a book you must also place on the weighing machine to weigh together lol... My friend got randomly selected by the staff lol...

it's not how big or how small. all airlines have size and weight restrictions on their hand carry. you can refer to the individual airlines website.

this is more so for the budget airlines since excess baggage charges, whether carry on or check-in, are revenue to them. hence they are quite strict on this. those who managed to siam are just plain lucky and may not be lucky always. so buy the right baggage allowance. as to how much, only you can make the call.

Technically speaking, if i carry an average backpack and dont go shopping, my bag is just clothes only mah less the weight and size compared to a luggage that is rectangular and the weight of handle, wheels etc
