I think battery life of Nook is pretty poor based on my experience. A full charge Sunday evening. Page turn max about 500 (that's not much), and by this morning Wed its 43%. That's on airplane mode, and screen brightness only about 10-20%. I expect to have to charge tonight as I'm uncomfortable with anything whose battery life is just 20%. That suggests each charge under 1,000 page turns. ugh, that's horrible.

They shld design something where you don't have to use the colour screen just to switch books. Colour screen only for wifi access to bookstores or web.

iriver ebook reader is also very bad when it comes to battery. It doesn't even have colour or wifi!

Those advertising about XXX no of page turns is BS! I think what they mean for page count is, once you finish full charging, you continuously press next page ba. :D :D

Just received my Nook yesterday. The batt life seems weak as feedback by some users. Need to calibrate it to test it fully first.

If anyone ordering accessories/covers from B&N inform me! hee, looking to tag along for a cover purchase. Using the iriver e-story case as of now..:(.

So no one softroot the nook? i might wan try for the organising feature..

I've just placed my NOOK order last night. But my order status is still unable to process up to now. Do some one know that this is normal and how I will be notified as my order was canceled.

I had the same problem too when I placed my order on Mon morning. But when I checked again on mon night, they had processed my order. Prior to that during the day I did send them an email query asking them to check. They replied the next day too saying my order is being processed. Maybe u can drop them an email via their website?

Make sure you place the order behind a VPN like Hotspot shield. AFAIK, B&N checks where you're buying from at point-of-purchase. So if you're buying frm SG without a VPN, then your order will be rejected. You might want to check on that. :)

and if anyone's buying nook cases from B&N or anywhere, drop me a PM or update here, count me in! Can't find any nook cases in SG (obviously), lol

Yeh, i think in the 1st place need to order with the VPN connected. I forgot, so initially the website was not able to process my order, think the order system detected my IP. But I drop B&N a query abt it then next thing i know they processed my order, I think the pple there need to manually allow my order to go thru bah....or something like that...not sure. Anyway, my order has already been shipped and cfm received at Vpost USA addy.

Sign up a account from b&n. Used that same username and pw in yr nook and linked nook with b&n account. Install hotspot shield to bypass the ip. Then purchase ebooks from b&n as per normal.

You can use any browser, IE, Firefox, Chrome or Safari. I think it works for all. On my Mac, once I activate Hotspot, it works on all my browsers.

Hi - I hve just softrooted my Nook! with a lot of help from a v kind forumer at mobileread. books organising function under Mybooks is great, can now see sideloaded content in tags/folders. Trook is great too - get wifi download of free books (browse to gutenberg, feedbooks etc) and rss news fees. even got browser! (but if you have iphone, netbook, you dont need all that) to be frank some of the apps i'd prob use sparingly, since i mainly read on it, and keep wifi off. so i'll give it a try - if b&n comes up with an update that's compelling, i'll remove the softroot.
