ya must share your experience with us once your hoot reaches :)

Received the headphones on 16 May 2025. Exactly one week after the order was placed on the 9th (via Shopee).

Had a chance to test them yesterday. These are first impressions, from about 30 minutes of trying them out.

I have the Sony WH-1000XM5 for comparison.

These UGREEN cans are not better than the Sony headphones. They are decent value-for-money though.

The ANC is slightly weaker than the Sony's. Without any input but with the ANC on, both pairs of headphones block out a good amount of environment noise (XM5 was a tad better). Main difference is, with ANC on, the UGREEN Studio Pro do not enhance the sound quality of the audio, unlike the (much) more expensive pair.

The ear padding are more comfortable, but do not give as close a seal as the Sony pair. The UGREEN headphones are heftier...but not in a good way, since portability and comfort for extended-sitting-on-the-head dictate that the headphones should be lighter.

There are more moving parts on the UGREEN pair. The extension of the headphones are on the band, while the earcups can be rotated 90° for carrying or resting on the neck. The Sony XM5's moving parts are on the earcups themselves, both for extension & inward rotation.

The UGREEN app is an APK file which downloaded & installed fine on my Android device. Updated the firmware immediately.

For whatever reason, when paired with my PC via Bluetooth, there is a sync issue with the audio vis-a-vis the video. The audio is just slightly quicker than the video. After adjusting (disabling) the enhancements, there was slight improvement, but the non-sync(?) is still visible, which is irritating. Would not be an issue with music files, I'm guessing?

No such issues with my Sony headphones & various other wireless earphones.

Finally, these <$50 pair of headphones do not come with a carry case.

Is it worth it? I'm planning to buy a cheap one for working out, so if the pad gets flakey, I won't be too upset about it.

the bluetooth connection means the mic will lag during gaming. it's otherwise ok for making calls

Your gaming is on PC or mobile.. I just realized PC bluetooth can only utilize SBC codec for sounds... so any high quality audio playback will get compressed and sounds horrible.. though I search online about Windows 11 supposed to support AAC... but doubt so... because my phone that support AAC... I listen to the same track using my Creative Outlier Air V3.... on phone and PC.. and the PC side sounded horrible...

AI Overview

Motherboards generally do not have built-in Bluetooth that supports higher-quality audio codecs
like aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, or LDAC by default. Standard motherboard Bluetooth uses the basic SBC codec, and sometimes AAC if licensed, which offers lower quality compared to high-resolution options.
The best way to get high-quality Bluetooth audio on a desktop PC is to use a dedicated USB or PCIe Bluetooth transmitter/adapter that specifically supports these advanced codecs.

Why Motherboard Bluetooth is Limited
The Bluetooth functionality on motherboards is typically provided by a shared Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module (like the Intel AX210 or newer BE200 series). While these modules handle the wireless connection, the software and driver support within Windows often default to the basic SBC (Subband Coding) codec.
  • SBC is the universal default codec, offering basic quality with standard bitrates (around 192-320 kbps).
    • AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) is common, especially with Apple devices, but its quality on Windows PCs can be inconsistent.
    • AptX, aptX HD, and LDAC require specific licensing and driver implementation which motherboard manufacturers rarely include in their standard software packages for Windows.

Recommended Solutions for Higher Quality Codecs
To achieve high-quality Bluetooth audio on your PC, you need to bypass the motherboard's built-in Bluetooth and use an external solution that handles the desired codecs.
  • Dedicated USB Audio Transmitters: These devices plug into a USB port and manage the Bluetooth connection and audio coding independently of Windows' default settings.
    • Creative BT-W5 supports aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, and SBC.
    • Creative BT-W3X supports aptX HD, aptX, and SBC.
    • Sennheiser BTD 600 supports aptX Adaptive and aptX HD.
    • Questyle QCC Dongle Pro supports aptX Lossless and LDAC (for devices that support it).
  • PCIe Expansion Cards: You can also use a PCIe Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card if you prefer an internal solution. Look for models featuring newer Intel chipsets (like the AX210) which technically support the underlying Bluetooth standard (5.3+). You may need to use third-party software like Bluetooth Audio Codec Changer to force the use of higher quality codecs in Windows.
Keep in mind that your Bluetooth headphones or speakers must also support the same high-quality codec to benefit from these solutions.

I am surprised a lot of older phones I have dun support better bluetooth codecs for modern wireless earbuds or headphones.... only recently I got Poco F7 Pro.. then have more support for better codecs.. lucky my incoming IEM wireless earhooks support LDAC... which is supported on the phone. PC side.. that one bobian... unless I go buy a new bluetooth transmitter...

I think the problem is usually desktop motherboard. Laptop ones usually have the ax200 ax 210 module that is swappable. Desktop mobo usually use some lousy chip, and some only support wifi. Think it's because they cater more for lan or wifi only instead of wifi + bluetooth

Probably can buy the pcie adapter and salvage or buy the laptop intel wifi chip

hehe some DAP can act as Bluetooth transmitter and DAC when connected to PC or laptop too :)

Eg Fiio M5/M6, BTR 13/17, iFi ZEN Blue 3
