from R&F mall bridge (not princess cove) to city sq already 15min, RTS station is further down, you can do it at 10min~? do you know the entrance facing of the RTS~? we will wait till the project to complete then say~ you claiming just like what other agents are saying, all within walking distance, 5min to SG~ need to take a big pinch of salt~ :s22:

Dear sunsetbay,

Do you have any recommendation, advice and suggestions for me? I am looking for a retirement nest either in Penang or Thailand but understands the visa-run may not work perpetually as government policies constantly evolving.

Next given the fact I will age gradually I am looking for a more stable abode for my spouse and myself. We're looking into practicality, feasibility and economical approach.

Confidence for the future. More good years ahead...Let us take Singapore forward together.
Thank you.

if penang, i will choose tanjung tokong~ away from george town but not far from it~ think of marine parade~ mostly residential and near the sea~

i feel penang is safer than JB & KL~ i see their deliveries all put at the open shelves mail room with no concern~ :s22:

If worry about visa run, why not consider mm2h? For SEZ the entry is quite low.

MM2H SEZ applies to Johor only and lowest entry…

For simply retirement, buy leasehold Condos at Medini and apply MM2H SEZ.. lowest outlay

If not, visa run between SG, MY, Thailand .. Airbnb

Dear Zelphon,

Visa runs between Malaysia and Singapore may not work in long term, especially the JHK has been targeting Singaporean at every opportunity.

Moreover, I do not know what would becoming of the two nation relationship and if eVisa aka ETA would be require in future. Many things change as it goes.

For SEZ MM2H, is there a minimum of 600K property?

Dear Singaporean,

Have you ever consider and do a calculation on the rental lease approach would actually cost you 600K? You may ended spending less and with lesser liability and attachment.

Legacy is over-rated, especially when we are always "alien" to these countries.

Hi Yowe55, yes i did. 600k = 200k roughly, which can sustain one in malaysia for maybe half a decade, and being retiree, might not have many half decades to live and enjoy. Thus, it is surely a more viable option to rent.

Going by that route, may then have to do visa runs to maybe thailand, vn, bali etc so as not to overstay the malaysia visa limit.

Buying a property also limit the flexibility to be mobile.

But i look at some properties in malaysia, marketed as luxury property which can also potentially yield income if you rent it out or do airbnb, or can also do own stay, at a (bird language) price, also quite tempting, and can help you stay in malaysia legally.

Dear Singaporean,

To stay Malaysia legally MM2H is mandatory. If we plan for visa run, owning a property in Malaysia is not dependable option. I also question if we have the time and energy to manage an overseas property in a not-so-friendly foreign country, i.e. Malaysia where they can simply change policy at the stroke of a pen anytime.

I do not think Vietnam is friendly for retirees and has reservation over Bali due to cost of living is relatively high.

Thank you.
