I went to buy bread.
Looking for a affordable bread.
But those healthy bread is very expensive.
And those low quality one is chap.
I go for $1.90 bread. (Daily's wholemeal bread).

The poor will probably die faster while the rich enjoy healthy food.

On the way back, took a lift with one elderly lady.

She look at the bread n the price.
I told her bread very expensive.

She told me she buy one packet of bee hoon cost $5.

I told her everything getting expensive.
Yes... all the budget meals got hit hardest by inflation.
Before Covid, the go to budget meals were Chicken rice ($2), cai png 2 vege 1 meat ($2.50 to $3), and bread (3 for $2). Now Chicken rice is $4, cai png 2 vege 1 meat is $4.50. Bread is now 3 for $5.

Inflation hit the hardest on the lowest echelons, because middle class people who can no longer afford middle class food, can flee to budget meals, but people already eating budget meals have nowhere to go.
