I went to buy bread.
Looking for a affordable bread.
But those healthy bread is very expensive.
And those low quality one is chap.
I go for $1.90 bread. (Daily's wholemeal bread).

The poor will probably die faster while the rich enjoy healthy food.

On the way back, took a lift with one elderly lady.

She look at the bread n the price.
I told her bread very expensive.

She told me she buy one packet of bee hoon cost $5.

I told her everything getting expensive.

1 Packet of bread - can last for 2 /3 days breakfast - for family of 3.

NTUC Bread 500g - $2.05 now. It used to be 1.40 around 20 years ago. (When i was in school)
Of course, you still have giant / other Malaysian made bread - less than $2 for 600 grams loaf.

Of all things, bread is one of least "getting more expensive" food.

That's the problem with CDC vouchers. The expiry date forced you to anyhow spend it. Cash is king.
Exactly bro.
I fnt understand what the hack government is thinking.
Why not expiry date extend to 3 to 5 years?
Then people can learn to be spendthrift , prudent.
But I thunk many jus anyhow waste the remaining cdc for the sake of spending it.

Exactly, full of preservatives and sugar

Eating 2 eggs is a much better and healthier option

Actually, many breakfast cereals can contain acrylamide, particularly those that are made from grains like oats, corn, and wheat. Oat-based and mixed cereals have been found to have some of the highest levels of acrylamide among cereal products.

Sugar serves 2 purposes in bread making

1) To allow the yeast to feed on it and cause it to rise
2) For browning the bread

If you substitute sugar with a healthy zero-calorie sugar options like Allulose, Stevia, Monk Fruit, Inulin etc or remove sugar the bread doesn't rise well and the crown becomes whitish

Substitute with sugar-rich items like chocolates, honey, whole-cream milk will also give the above 2 similar effects. Whole-cream milk has natural sugar lactose while chocolates and commercial honey can contain added sugars. So whole-cream milk is healthy. Raw honey also doesn't contain added sugar but natural sugars such as glucose and fructose that are already present in the nectar.

The first thing in healthy bread is to select a healthy flour. After that can add protein powder and other healthy things to it. You make your own healthy bread.

Oh yah, and don't toast your bread brown. Just light brown will do for brown bread contains acrylamide. The more brown the more acrylamide.

Breads are highly processed food, rolled oats might be a better choice for breakfast.

Not exactly true for oats

TS

Your options:
1. Go JB but while shopping for groceries get Gardenia Wholemeal about RM4. Buy a couple of loaves put in freezer.
2. But if you are in JB, will look for Verbena though only 4 outlets and not so accessible if not driving. Good quality that beats our BreadTalk, their Lavender or Seasons hands down.
3. Look for Food Rescue distribution in your area.

According to AI

Yes, oats can contain acrylamide, but the levels are generally low compared to other foods. Despite this, oatmeal is still considered a healthy choice due to its high fiber content.

He is saying that bread is expensive. I bought 2 loaves of it outside a coffee stall at only $1 each. In Malaysia, it cost RM3.30. But the taste almost matches Gardenia.
Can't convince one lah. It's like white color is forever the best. $10 1 loaf will also buy even though alternative bakeries are selling similar for $3.

They already explained it before. It has a secondary role to stimulate the micro economy. And also provide a push spending and therefore income for the hawkers and neighborhood stalls.

But oats will cause a rapid spike in blood glucose and insulin - both are not what we want

Eating eggs is still better
