Could anybody explain what is the purpose of having 'brand' luggage in cabin and in general?

If you have luxury brand luggage checked in, it significantly increases chances that it will be stolen/break in. I have first hand experience with my friend who had fake LV suitcase, bought somewhere in HKG. After second trip the suitcase was slashed with knife and everything inside turned upside down.

I personally have one criteria for luggage, checked or carry-on - it should be as light as possible to allow carry more stuff for allowable 7/10kg. My wife about 5 years ago ordered set of 4 such suitcases for US $240. Surprisingly they still run strong. One of the best travel related purchases ever.

I just hoot 2 IT 27" for like usd$115. Like yourself light weight is important. Brand is for show unless I can find them real cheap I not getting a branded one

If I fly once a week I would have gotten Briggs and Riley, but I travel only once every month or so.

Rimowa hand assembled right? Hand made - case machine made operated with hands of course

I think it's more QC issue not hand made issue. Just an excuse to have lame QC

Such brands offer lifetime warranty don't boast hand made in 1st world country

whatever it is, just disappointed... Staying off rimowa for a while now

frankly if u are heading to US or Europe and only need the luggage on the way back to sg, i suggest buy overseas. The prices of samsonite, delsey are much lower than sg prices.

I got a shock when i saw a hardshell samsonite at 6xx here which i recalled europe was selling for less than €200

Thanks, I may need to do a long stay (few months) in the US so mainly is for clothing and such. So probably need a large luggage for the bulk of the stuff and a handcarry for the personal items.
