Yup
Just be careful and check the airline on exact luggage limitations
US carriers often have limit on number of pieces of luggage, with the limit applied on each piece. So if u have 30kg, it doesn't mean u can do 3 x 10kg if the airline restricts to 2 pieces. Also if you happen to take domestic but it's not in the same ticket as the international sector, u might be charged for excess luggage as the domestic luggage allowance is often much lower

Thanks, I may need to do a long stay (few months) in the US so mainly is for clothing and such. So probably need a large luggage for the bulk of the stuff and a handcarry for the personal items.

if plan on complete make over, clothing/shoes are cheap in states.. I meant those so call branded ones. Don't have to bring so much stuff over.

its a standard even for Asian Carrier. Cathay, Korean, JAL, SIA, Silkair etc limits number of pieces and the weight limit on each piece.

maybe only a handful of airlines does 50kg max weight and its up to you to split the checkin bags. I have yet to come one. I am not a world traveler. :D

domestic baggage rules can be complex. Southwest lets bags fly free

Okay, shouldn't be a problem as I have frequent flyer status so can get extra piece of luggage (I think the piece concept only applies traveling to the Americas). My intention is just 1 big one to check-in and a cabin luggage to bring on board.

That's good
Your domestic sector is booked under the same ticket as the international?

I'm flying to Washington DC, so no domestic sector if flying on Air China, Qatar, British Airways, ANA, Turkish, United Airlines, Air France, KLM, and Korean Air.

Haven't book air ticket yet. The cheapest I've seen is Air China going for less than $1.1k. Or I can redeem my miles for business class on the various airlines.

Considering that today number of flights got canceled/diverted in Shanghai and Beijing because of smog - I suggest if you decide to fly thru China - avoid these two cities.

And better would be to avoid going thru China at all...
